I split behind the stock muff and tipped with 3.5"x18" tips sounds surprisingly good for stock muff, but would like a deeper tone. I know its a v6 but ive heard a couple that sounded almost like a v8. does anybody know which muff would be the closest? flowmaster, magnaflow maybe.I thought of maybe a 40 or 50 series flowmaster.I dont really want to buy one and not be happy with it.I emagine 90% or more of you have bought new ones and would know .

Just some honest info.

I had previously owned a 3.9L, a 2002 model SXT. I am used to the "V8 sound" and tried to get that with my first V6 I had ever owned. In all honesty, if you are used to a "V8 sound" you will be disappointed with what tones you can get out of the V6.

Glasspack - This was a $15 muffler that made the truck sound great at idle and cruising, but upon acceleration, it sounded like a 4-cyl.

40-series Flowmaster - I did not use this but my cousin did on a 3.9, sounds similar to a glasspack but much louder and not as much of a 4-cyl tone on acceleration.

Dynomax #17748 Super Turbo - Best sounding one that I used or heard on a V6. At first it was really quiet, almost stock, after about 3k miles, it got deep. Nice rumble at idle, no 4-cyl tone at all when accelerating, a nice solid tone. I would highly recommend this muffler, it is not loud, but sounds powerful.

Try to contact DakotaDan who posts on these boards, he is the one who gave me a sound file of his truck with the Dynomax 17748 muffler.

Hope this helps you out.
