Earlier today we were working on my friends truck in my garage.

We heard this late 80's Mustang coming up the road. Before he got right in front of my house we could hear the whine of a supercgarger.

As he drove by we saw he had "supercharged" badging under the 5.0 badges on the fenders.

The car sounded really nice and was probably very fast.

It would be more fun I think to NOT advertise the supercharger and let most people not know and people with an ear like mine just guess LOL!

The subject changed to SUPERCHARGERS.
Sorry.
We broke the law and will try to only talk about our beloved Daks!!!

HE HE HE

At least we were talking about a fellow domestic car (and the most popular with and without mods of all time!) and not some rice mobile.

I think we all know who the fool is, GraphiteDak. No one ever said you can't get over 500 HP from a 360; you were trying to claim a 360 as reliable at about 825 HP. Let us know how long it stays together if the motor is ever completed.

todd,

Where did you research that the 5.7, and 5.9 have the same block? Could you post that site for us?

Kowalski said on page 1: And if you're building a 360 over 500 horse you'd better have a special race block, the stock blocks just won't take the kind of power GraphiteDak is talking about without coming apart.

You did say you couldn't get over 500 HP from a 360 block.

That was what my debate with you was about.

ok. I called my buddy to clarify the details as I am remembering form a while back. (it's taking him forever to get around to installing this motor).

He used a stock 360 block. Zimmerman's racing in Phoenix took that block and punched it out.
Then they modified the 360 crank by adding weights to balance it similar to how a 318 is internally balanced (360 externally). Not too mention he balanced the entire assembly together, hybernetic pistons, balanced the rods, pistons, etc.

He got the heads done to the hilt as well.

Engine supposed to turn 8000 RPM's no problem what so ever and capable of more than that if you could ever get it to breath beyond that.

Said 425 HP all motor, 300 HP N20 was normal 400 HP of N20 would be pushing it. So I was off there a bit. My friend has no intention of running that kind of spray. He'd probably use a 100 shot.

That's still quite a bit more than 500 HP out of a stock 360 block.

I'll try to find my old pics of the engine in pieces. The engine is ready to be put together. The car is not ready for the engine. He allready got his k-member welded up for it but has other things that need preparing such as rear suspension and we need to build his 727 tranny up a bit.

I'll be sure to take pics as we start to work on it again now that he got out of his apartment and back into a house.

My whole point was... OLD SCHOOL ENGINES (on non emmision vehicles of course) can still be built CHEAP and with a sh*t load of horsepower.
As far as stock with computers and emmisions goes I'll take the 4.7
