Im lookin drop a mopar crate in a 98 RC/5spd/318. I want my truck to run 13s on motor alone. My question is, which crates does mopar offer that are compatible with the dakota/tranny. Anybody done this, any problems, etc.

Just received my latest issue of Dodge magazine and they said that Mopar Performance is selling new "crate" Hemi engines.

The biggest available is the 528 CID 8.6 Liter dyno tested with over 500 HP with a single 4 barrel carb. (Just imagine this with a 2nd 4 barrel and slipped into your Dakota)

They are also offering a 440 CID 7.2 Liter "crate" engine.

See your friendly Dodge dealer and arrange to pick one of these up.

Thanx Vic. So your saying I could fit a 528 Hemi in a Dak? Anyways, was surfing www.dragtruk.com when I came to a 11 sec. dakota. I believe it was a 98 like mine. He said he had a 318 than swapped it out for a 360 supercharged. Then he said he couldnt get it tuned right so he went carburated! Said it never ran better. How hard would it be to change my 318 fuel injection to carburated. Why would it run better anyways, I thought fuel injection was better?

Hey fastdak, I didn't say where it would fit. I was just quoting Dodge Magazine saying that they had them for sale. The magazine covers all Dodge products, not just Dakotas. Check with your dealer.
