Subject: Jet Chip, ASE, Custom Flash?
IP: Logged

Message:
Was just wondering what everyone's opinion on doing a PCM mod is. You can see below what my small mods are. What's available for a 2002 4.7L? Is a Jet Stage 2 worth the money? What about an ASE Chip? Custom Flash? Prices? Where is the best place to buy this stuff? Or Phuq it, would a new TB be the next best mod?

Regards,
Aaron

Your only options for the '02 4.7L are from ASE,Jet, or Kenne Bell. The jury is out on ASE and Jet for noone has numbers or before/after timeslips to back either up. Kenne bell is about the best option right now for a flash and its really mild from what I understand. Kenne Bell claims 12rwhp from I think.

Your current set up is good for a larger thottle body your current one is a 68mm which is actually a 65mm because of restriction. TheFastman.com has affordable "true" 70mm-71mm TB's that will suit your needs just fine. APS and F&B also make quality TB's but are a bit pricier

CThomp,

Thanks for the reply. So what you're saying is I'd likely see better gains from a new true 70mm TB instead of something like ASE, Jet or the KB flash?

Aaron

from what i have seen, some people love the JET chips, some people REALLY hate them. I have an 03 Dakota.... and well, I think I am going to go with the Kenne Bell

I sent an email to Ryan at v8performance and he said basically that there's been good reports for the Jet Chip on a 3.9 and that they don't work with the 5.9. There seems to be differing opinions on the compatibility with the 4.7 engine. Also, he doesn't have a return policy with the Jet Chip so the thought of buying one to try it out and sending it back if it tanks isn't an option. I'm totally undecided on this one. If the Kenne Bell was worth the money I'd go with that but I haven't heard much about it on a 2002.

Aaron

Shoot Kenne Bell an e-mail. The flash would be worth probably 4 or so more rwhp than a TB. Or just do both. I'd get the TB first personally. Then when it comes time for you to get the flash maybe something better will have come along from superchips or one of the other companies.
