I have a 01 quad cab, V6 and I understand that if I turn on the key, but not start the engine while holding in the trip tab, the truck will start and run test on the systems and give me cde nimbers. If so what do the code numbers stand for or where can I find out? Thanks Nick

My service engine light came on and I did as you said. The code came up P-31. Now what? Outside of this and a problem with rust on the right pre-cat I very much enjoy the quad cab and have had goor luck/service so far.

Check this site out for all service codes.

http://www.dakota-truck.net/CGI-BIN/DakotaCodes.cgi

If it doesn't show up, this is what your error code means:

Insufficient or excessive vapour flow detected during evaporative emission system operation. *
or
An open or shorted condition detected in the duty cycle purge solenoid circuit. *

I very much enjoy my quad cab as well. I haven't had any problems with it.

I checked my fault codes and I had 2. A p0051 and p0152. So I changed o2 sensor 2/1. Then I erased the fault codes and all was well until I got to mile 10 and the check engine light came on again. The error code was p0152 again. Unsure of my next step. Please advise...

Troy, do you have a 4.7 V8? Did you notice any oily substance in the connector to the O2 sesnor you changed? If you did, check the power steering fluid pressure sensor. It may be leaking. If it is leaking fluid can travel throug the wiring harnes to the connector for the O2 and foul it up causing the faulty O2 code to pop up. If that is the case change that switch and clean all the fliud from the harness. that should cure the problem.
