 Subject: Edlebrock and KN Mixed?

Hey all.
Subject prob means not much to you, eh? I have a 14 in edlebrock airfilter (the chrome one) open end. Anyways, tonight i saw K and N filter. Just the filter. So i bought it. It is smaller than 14in. Its like 13 and a half or something.
Where can i get JUST the base and top for the K&N filter set? It just looks odd with a small filter and bigger top/bottom. Will this mess up performance? Is there a difference in performance? It is completly sealed (as far as i can tell).
