Don't want ot pop your baloon, but is it really worth it to put a $4,000 system on a truck with only 151ci? You caould fab a turbo with much less cost. As long as you can find somone to make the pipes fit for you. I have some pictures of a guy that did it to his truck. I'll ask him if I can give them to you, but you still have to ask yourself why? Why put hard time and work into a small inline four when it is in a 4000lb truck? You wont make 14's in the quater even afer you do it. Plus you will seriously shorten the lifespan of your engine of you give it enough boost to do anything. You can get a really nice long block for under 4 grand.
I also have the 2.5L, and as much time and thought as I put into it, it's just not worth it for a vehicle as heavy as our truck. Civics do great with 200hp, but not Daks.
Whatever you do have fun. If it means hotrodding your 4 popper, then have a good time and mod it till you blow it.

Yeah its just a thought though. I've thought about an engine swap but they are much more expensive than 4gs. I've thought about the turbo route too but the only thing I can think of is trying to find an old daytona with the same engine and take like most of the exhaust and entire turbo setup just to make it work. I think im just gonna forget forced induction of any sort, do all the other upgrades I wanna do then after that focus on buying what I really want. Ford Mustang Cobra (94-98) Gotta love 305HP stock! And for you people who don't like Fords i don't either but I do like the Mustang, its the only one lol.

If a mini-van with a turbo 4 banger can do mid-12's, why can't a Dakota do 14's?

What was the stats on the van? Did it weigh in at 3998lbs? It is certainly possible to get our trucks to make make good quarter mile times, but the cost would be significant.
Hey Joe. You could go with numerous turbos out there. Don't limit your look to just dodge. I nkow Mitsubishi made a popular turbo for a 2.5, and so does Suburu. You can also go with a whole buch of multi application turbos, caus they're all going to require some fabrication. You need a good blow off valve, a boost controler and a turbo. From the you will also need the lin into your turbo for oil, and the return into you Oil pan, along with boost hose, and probably a small intercooler for over 10psi of boost. I am sure you could do the whole install (if you do it yourself) for about $1000, with decent used parts. The hardest part os doing the exhaust work, because you have to go from your exhaust manifold, into yur boost controller(if it's external from the turbo)with a pipe that dumps from your controller into open atmosphere, or re-routed behind your turbo. Then you have to mount yur turbo in the best place possible for heat, and oil efficiency. Talk to some good "tuners". I use the term "TUNERS", because a real tuner is going to know what the hell he's talking about. Don't mistake a tuner for the guy down the street with the noisy ass civic though. He'll be the one driving the BMW, with the well rated shop and millions invested in tools. He should give you somr good free advice if he loves his job. Also look into new costom fuel injecter prices. I talked to Venom and they found a V8 kit that would fit with the flow I wanted, for a really good price. They took the whole kit price and cut it in half since I olnly wanted four of em. I think it came to about $140.
Have fun with whatever you do, But I think I will go with the 402 magnum myself.
Till then I have my bike to go fast.

They bought the van for $800 and it had nearly 130k on it when it ran 12.65/105.44. I've seen some pretty cheap turbos, including a T03(?) that would work. If you are willing to scrounge around, get your hands dirty and don't need a bolt on kit with all the instructions, you should be able to get by on less than $1000.

First of all if you want so more low end grunt change rear ends to
limited slip 8.25 w/410 gearing short air intake and 2 stage hotter
NGK plugs p/n fr5-1. change out you throttle body with a 4.0 jeep
you will be going from a 48mm to a 53mm I.D. that was a small
mod but i noticed it and so should you. as far as turbo or super
charger gos have not done yet but been doing research so far
cheapest way is to fab. and run 2.5in ex. if you do all that you will
notice a big difference. and for those 4 things you will be looking at
about 400-450$ so not bad if you do the work your self.

You guys are kidding me right? This is about the easiest and cheapest swap you'll ever find.

Look for a 1987 Daytona Shelby Z in a yard somewhere. Swap engines. Swap Radiator/Intercooler assembly. Upgrade the Dakota's fuel pump to a Walbro 225L or a Turbo II, or Super 60 etc.

The fun part will be the wiring harness. You need the 87 harness to run the engine but you will have to integrate the dakota's HVAC, lights, dash, and all that stuff. Look here for parts:

www.fwdperformance.com

Get the 87 CSX computer for 14.5 psi boost. I reccomend the MP performance cam also. The clutch you may have to ask about, 2.2L output shaft to the 2.5L's transmission. I can't remember if these all stayed the same.

If you pull this off, with simple upgrades to the intake and exhaust, you will have about 220hp/200 ft/lbs for about $500.

Ask around at www.turbododge.com

Oh, the A-555 transaxle from the daytona is somewhat valuable, sell it to someone from that forum.
