if you don't want to lose performance keep the same diameter pipes. I personaly lost performance with the 40 series flowmasters- switched to magnaflow got it back. only bad thing is they are not as loud, but they still sound good. what do ya want? noise or performance. but thats your choice.

i know flows sometimes make noise on deceleration
but why not use flows if it gives that deep tone and some extra horse and the look? or should i just got with flows anyway with 3" pipes

You really can't "lose" performance by just switching mufflers; the only thing that may happen is movement of the powerband to higher/lower ranges. Bigger pipes flow more, but reduce exhaust velocity (better for hp); smaller pipes flow less, but increase exhaust velocity (better for torque). You didn't say which engine you have, but in general, when using a dual out, don't go bigger than 2.5" pipes out unless you are going for top range performance.

Flowmasters are chambered mufflers, which is the reason they sound like they do (and produce increases in the mid-high range); Magnaflows are straight-through mufflers, which increases flow, but doesn't do much for sound (and work in lower ranges). Neither one will hurt performance, but just like anything else, if you have high expectations and the mod doesn't deliver, you might get jaded.

I'm gonna go buy a flowmaster muffler but i dunno what type so what do ya recommend? but i'm just gonna keep the stock pipe size of 2.5" and get single inlet and dual outlet and then i'm gonna add a coolair intake but i'll decide about that later on
