I have read alot about removing the CAT from your truck? IS that the catalytic converter or something else? Will it help performance? Will it help the sound of the exhaust? I have 3.9L with Gibson single side swept. Will it make it sound better?

Just replace it or have it replaced with a free-flow cat (yes a catalytic converter) and be done with it. It will compliment your existing setup. Carsound is a good brand. Look around on the net for it. It will help your performance some though don't expect huge gains. Compliment the whole system by working on the intake side as well (throttle boy and air intake). Do a search on this site for more info.
