Subject: Airhat/Intake Size ?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey all,

I am deciding between the Volant air intake setup and the Intense Performance setup. I like the fact that the Volant is all one piece including new airhat. However I like the K&N aluminum airhat to go with maybe an Intense Performance setup. My question is this... the K&N airhat has a 4" opening and most kits(Intense) are 3" tube..will the clamps take care of this? Or is there a 4" tube kit out there? Or should I go with the Volant?

Thanks for the help guys (and girls)

I seen a guy that had a true ram air he custom builtt for about 10 bucks that used the stock airbox and a chunck of 4 inch dryer vent pipe. worked like a charm and was a bit quicker then stock, all he did was remove the stupid lookin air horn in the front of the box and pop rivit the dryervent to the flange on the airbox, which just happend to be 4 inches around, and then run the vent tube to next to the radiator where there is an opening on the passenger side. He stuck in a K&N aftermarket filter element in the box and it knocked off almost .3 in the quarter and he went from 20.1 to 21.6 mpg on the hiway, based on a 3000 mile trip both times.
