How do I set the cams back to TDC?? No I didn't paint the cams before removal. I used a black marker not being smart enough to know it would rub off!!!

When the marks are lined up, it's at TDC, the cams will only go in one way, they have a pin in them for the sprocket. Hope that helps

Actually Todd, at least one cam may go in more than one way, that might have something to do with the problem this guy is having. I suspect though that it might have more to do with a distubed timing chain, that is why he is trying to re-index from scratch.

When the mark on the crank dampener is
lined up with the mark. You are either at top
dead center or bottom dead center. Top dead
center is when the crank is lined up and the
V8 symbols on the cam sprokets are BOTH
horizontal. (V8) (V8)
