Ha! I just got quoted a price of $740 to swap out my old cams with some new KRC 206 cams (and I'd be providing the cams and springs!). They said they'd need to pull out the radiator, fuel lines, a/c compressor (and recharge the system), etc., etc.

I love south texas.

Does someone have a copy of the installation instructions so I can see exactly what needs to be done? And what kind of price should I be looking at for the labor? I thought it would be about a 4 hour job for a good mechanic, so I was thinking more along the lines of $300.

NavyDak - keep us posted on how the install goes. I live in Austin,,but go to S.A. all the time. I just got my HO cams,,and am looking for someone to help me with the install too. Doesn't seem too difficult though.

where are you located?

Northern Mexico (Corpus Christi)

They don't have a single performance shop here. I'm trying to find a good shop in San Antonio. I was going to get the cams installed and the heads ported and polished at the same time, but I'm getting real nervous about letting anybody this close to Mexico touch my engine at all.

A good mechanic should be able to do the install in 4 hours or less. The install is not that difficult, especially if you can get a buddy to help you out and you have the proper tools. Some pictures of the install procedure without the wedge tool can be found here and a pdf file with the instructions can be found here. Let me know if you plan to do it yourself and I'll give you some tips that aren't included in the instructions.

since these cams come from the Jeep 4.7 which makes 25-30 more horses, is it correct to assume my engine will make the same power. The HO engine has a higher compression ratio, so i guess i wont get the full benefit. Probably be best to wait on the aftermarket for a cam.
