I want more power for my dodge dakota sport 3.9liter v6. I have gibson split exhaust , which might have been a bad move because i dont know if the car can pull it, and i have intake. WHat can else can i do performance wise that would make my truck jump off the line better. WHAT things should i by next.

jon, the middle of message was somewhat confusing. what gears ,stick or automatic??
supercharge it! if you dont have the $$$ then plugs, wires, brass cap rotor, 180* t-stat, underdrive pullies. try a rearend swap, there are enough gear manufactures out there im sure someone has something for your application. your kinda limited in performance mods. good luck!

Jon. There is a guy on this site that has a '98 V6 that will smoke alot of the V8's . He runs in the 13's 1/4 mi and yes he has slips. His name is Greg and he goes by IntenseDak39. He will give you honest advice and will NOT tell you to sell it and buy a V8.

Got a neighbor who races trucks at the track every week. He's got a 502 custom that is awesome!! Everyone on the boards seems to be looking for mods thast will increase performance but true spunk lies internally. Cams, Heads, pistons, throttlebodies etc. Small mods will gain only small horses. For me that is all I seek, others choose to go further. Have fun. Daks rule!!

hey intenseDak39 , what do u recommend me putting on next. would a new 48mm throttle body help that much? I just am lost on what to put on to get the most power that i can.

If you are on a budget, just get a stock V8 throttle body. A really good mod is changing the ring and pinion gears to a smaller set (numerically higher). I just put some 4.10 gears in my truck. Love 'em!

its one of the best mods to the V6. It allows more air flow into your engine.

This is the very thing Ive been wondering about.
From what year V8 throttle body should I use on my V6. I have a '97 3.9 4x4 Sport.
If anyone could help it would be appreciated. I'd rather try and pull one from a salvage yard before I spend more then $400 on a 48mm.

I have a 99 dakota sport 3.9(5-speed),would i still be able to purchase a new/smaller set of ring and pinion gears, and where would i be able to get them?
I have been interested in a new throttle body also, is it a good buy if it is bought from like truckperformance.com or like stylinconcepts.com?

go to www.4wheelparts.com to find out about a ring and pinion. Thats where i got mine.
Just shop around on the throttle body. I dont know everyones prices.

Looks like Greg is little crabby today. Alot of 5.2/5.9 V8 guys replace their TB's with aftermarket and sell the stock ones on Ebay. You can usually pick one up for under $100. Just post on Dakota websites in the For Sale/Wanted sections and you'll get some responses there too. Go to Dakotatrucks.com or Dakotausa.com, they both have For Sale/Wanted sections.

I have a question??? I was looking on ebay a few months back and this guy was selling a FACTORY Dakota RT with 360hp. He said that Dodge only made a few of these "suped" up trucks. My question is has anyone ever heard of this and if so what were the specifics (ex. Hp., modifications from the normal rt dakota, parts used..etc.) Thanks.

same motor that came in the B150 Van, 4X4 Dakota, Quad Cab Dakota, and Ram.
Now there was a Shelby Durango that had about that kinda of power and had all the bells and whistles... supercharged... blah blah blah... $50,000... blah blah blah... but no Dakota RT
