I've seen interesting information on Superchip's hand held programmer. +46hp and 80#' tq. with their high-test program.

Has anyone used one or have any info from someone who has?

Not the chip, but the programmer.

Thanks,...D

I've used the tuner on my truck. It definitely works. 91 octane gas is required and 3923's and a 180 tstat wouldn't hurt either. You will get better results with the 5.2/5.9 than you will with the 3.9

Here's a link to a dyno sheet from a 2001 R/T before and after Superchips tuning.

Those are some pretty impressive numbers!

What PCM are you using? Stock, Mopar, Custom Flash?

What other modifications does your truck have? Throttle Body, Headers, Exhaust, Hi Flow Fliter?

Thanks

Superchips tuners are meant to be used with your stock PCM. They are your custom flash. The tuner reflashes your stock PCM via the OBDII port. I'm not sure what was on that truck, it's not mine. That dyno sheet was posted on another forum.

The Superchips tuner will work fine with mods such as CAI, headers, catback and a TB. Once you get into the M1 intake and beyond you have gone outside the envelope of the tune.

This comes from the folks who wrote those programs for Superchips.

Sean and Bob, I've got a '00 5.9 QC and wonder:

1) Did there tend to be any gas mpg increase or decrease with the SuperChip performance program installed? Excluding the added thrill of mo-power, that is :-}).

2)The major power increase shown on the dyno sheets is exactly in the range I want additional help when pulling my travel trailer, but I'm also curious as to 'regular' driving characteristic changes, if any.

3)I've seen the #3715 (for the 5.2/5.9) advertised as low as $308 on hotrodoffroad.com. Does that seem like "too-good-a-deal"? Factory lists at $417 (+/-) and have seen other vendors between $345 and $375.

Thanks for any additional input,...D

By the way, Bob, nice looking air dam on your Dak. May I inquire where you located it? I've been looking for ground effects to make my QC a bit less dirty in the air (to improve mpg by reducing drag) and yours is the first I've seen.

Generally speaking, the factory tune is a bit on the rich side. The Superchips tune takes some of that out, so if anything you should see your mileage go up. But if you run the 91 program, your mileage savings will be offset by the higher price of premium fuel. Lots of people have reported satisfactory results with the 87 program in the Tuner. For towing that will be a requirement.

The cover on my truck is a Stillen. Available through many of the mail order operations.

I have heard from others that their mileage improved on the tuner. For the one tank that I ran it on the performance setting it stayed the same.

I got my tuner from a groupd buy over on DTO for $295 shipped. We bought them from a fellow DTO member that runs http://www.hdstruckparts.com They currently list for $300 on his webpage.

Anyone that's near me is welcome to try mine out if they want. I sent mine in for an update so a fellow v6er can give it a try on his to see if he's interested in buying it. I need the money for fall cla$$e$. If he doesn't snag it, it will be up for sale for whoever else wants it.

The tuners work on 98-03 trucks except for the 4.7's. The same tuner works on 3.9, 5.2, and 5.9 trucks. This includes Daks, Rams, and Durangos.
