Hopefully the Superchips power programer for 4.7 will have
tranny selections. I sent email to them the reply said a
programmer will be out the same time as the hemi
programmer within a few months.

I have a Kenne Bell and they did a bunch of "computer stuff" to my shift points and stuff like that but i want an actual shift kit. When my truck hits third gear it take 1-2 seconds to finally lock into gear. I'm loosing a ton of time at the track. I want third to SLAM into gear not just float. It's quite frustrating to watch your rpms fall for two seconds before they start climbing again. I'm pretty sure i could pick up almost a second if the tranny would co-operate.

Well first, are you sure you aren't talking about the torque converter lockup? On the 4.7L auto, if you have overdrive off, the converter locks up a couple seconds after the actual shift to third, and the rpm's will actually DROP even under acceleration, then rise again..

Leave overdrive on, it won't shift into OD in 3rd, only 4th, which you shouldn't reach in a 1/4 mile anyway..

I have an Optimizer II, they don't change the
shift points. They change the firmness of the
shifts. The tach won't bounce around so much
at the shift points. It's good, but not as good as
a shift kit would be.

I should try with the overdrive on. I have been taking it off at the track cuz i thought that would be better. I'll try that.

I've heard the drop off is caused by the computer taking the "load off" tranny when it shifts by retarding the timing at the shift point. Whatever it is..it aint good.
