Well, I finally did some testing of the smt6 before and after. These are just preliminary results,
stock ECU no SMT6 = 171 rwhp
stock ECU with SMT6 (15 deg Advance) = 186 rwhp.
The Hp numbers are lower than expected, but this is because the stock ECU rev limiter is set at 4800RPM. With the Flashed (performance) ECU, I usually shift at 5500RPM.
I want to add more advance but with 19 deg advance and WOT the ECU will throw a P0320 & P1391 trouble codes at about 4000RPM.
These codes are related to a crank signal problem.
I know this motor can use more advance because there is no sign of detonation at 17 deg and it pulls hard.
I am thinking about modifying the coil signal instead of the crank siganl as that is how the ECU adv/ret the timing (not with the crank signal).
I have contacted Perfect Power about modifying the coil drive signal from the ECU instead of the crank signal. Will wait to hear from them.
Next up, I will modify the fuel map to provide more fuel when under 15 degrees advance & WOT and see how the engine performs.
More updates later.

It cost me about $700.00 cdn for the developers edition. I believe it's about $300-$400 cdn for the unit itself.
It should work with all versions of the ECU. All you need is a pinout diagram of the ECU so you know what signals to tap into. You will also need a computer to connect to it so you can program it.

Big_Torque...where you located? Awhile back I had contacted a guy in Coloroado that offered me $550 to buy the SMT-6 and to install it and program it. They have a list of people around the country that do it...not many options though.

Tom...I bet you'll get alot better HP numbers w/ the MP PCM on it bet you'd see at least 200 at the wheels...the MP PCM adds a alot more timing than the stock PCM tho so watch out.

Im near Chicago , Mike. And you ?

I still cant believe yer getting 338 at the wheels. Thats awesome. Your engines gotta be pretty tuned in to get those #s with the mods you got. Maybe you dont need a tuner box.

I was interested in the SMT-6 or the UNICHIP for my set up.

Jim, if your electronics are similar to mine (hall effect crank sensor & 8 notches on flywheel)
then you will need to use a pull-up on the 'ign1 in' to the smt6. You will have to set your 'global' ignition to 8 teeth per turn, 2 teeth firing' you will also have to set your 'global' system config so that both the input & output polarity is negative and also select low level input.
Give it a try, I am more than happy to share what I learned about the smt6.
