Roller rockers will be in 5/22/01. Going to install them on Saturday. Does anybody have any advise or tips. Do I adjust the valves to the factory specs? Moroso Valve covers came in also. What type of valve cover gasket should I use since these are the five bolt pattern can I re-use the original ones. The valve covers dont have an oil filler hole. I take it you can just pull out the breathers and fill it that way? Bernd is there any particular setting I should run the IAT adjuster. I have a 5.2. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks

Which rockers are you getting? I strongly recommend that you go to the website of the brand you purchased ( Crower or Crane if MP rockers ) and read the on-line instructions. You will be adjusting the rockers differently than factory. My MP 1.7s ( Crane ) were tightened 3/4 turn, and they haven't loosened in 1000s of miles. 1/2 turn is probably too loose.

I used the MP valve covers, and had to use some Permatex gasket maker to "glue" the gaskets to the cast covers to prevent leaks. This worked well. Are you sure the Moroso covers will clear the rockers? Be sure to check before you fire it up!

Jim,

On the IAT, start to the 12 O'clock position but play around with it from the 11 to 1 o'clock position to see what best fits your application.

On the rockers, factory specs are not to be followed...the instructions with the Rollers should have the specs for you. Some kits require Zero-Lash and others range from 1/4 turn to 3/4 turn.

I have the cower 1.7 roller rockers. They sent intruction with the package and they have a hot line. The moroso valve cover are taller than stock. The only thing I am worried about is 5 bolt vs 10 bolt and leakage. I talkes to a few people who have done this, they told me that I should not be a problem. Thanks for the info guys.

I have the 1.7 rockers also. They required a 3/4 turn. They say 1/2 to 3/4. Did a 1/2 first and still had ticking so went the extra 1/4 turn. Great investment though. the 5.2 loves these things!

do you keep the stock springs with the 1.7 rockers, or get new ones?

Roller lifters prefer to have .045 to .060 preload. That means that you will have to run the poly lock down one (1) full turn. If you don't, you will probably get a ticking noise. I tryed 1/2, then 3/4. Finally went to 1 turn and now they are quiet except for a slight tick in the morning first thing once in a while.
