5.9 has no balls. Compare stickers on the 2000 r/t vs the 4.7 4x4, its a whopping 10hp differance.5.9-under powered.

Yea Dan Thats right that extra 35lbs of torque is nothing. HAHAHAA Moron, the 5.9 has double the potential the 4.7 has. You 4.7 lovers have a long way to go. Like I said The not only is the 5.9 Faster but when Upgrade mods are applied to both motors such as headers chip and intake, Then the 5.9 Is nothing short of a runaway in compared to a 4.7 With the same mods. Also the 4.7 is gut less if your already moving on the high way, Passing gear is pathetic I bet a stock 5.9 Ram could out pull it. But then again I dont live in wonder land, It might take you people some time to understand facts.

Well mr shadetree, forget about mods and add on's, im talking from a stock point of view. Why would you pay the same if not more for a truck that has 2 wheel drive, does not handle as good as it should seeing how it kisses the ground, and has a bigger motor that can't get out of it's own way? I would rather have 4 wheel drive, a better ride, and the 4.7 witch can pretty much stay even with the r/t. I test drove the r/t, idled like a briggs and strattan, and only good for burn outs. NOT IMPRESSED. JERKOFF

i have a 99 reg cab rt with intake and hypertech and i raced a stock 4.7 about 3 hours ago and beat it by atleast 4 trucks. the only way a 4.7 could beat an rt is if it had raced with the E brake on. MAYBE

You wouldn't be interested in a set of 18" wheels for your Dak, would you? I'm in Phx also, just took off the wheels, I couldn't find any good agressive off road tires in an 18. So i'm gonna go back to 16's.

You spent 25k on a 5.9, found it was a underpowered non equitable sewing machine and now your upset. Thats understandable, just double up on the vicodin's, you'll feel better.

motor trend do not know the issue but put the 5.9 r.t durango at 8.9 0 to 60 and slt 4.7 at 8.2.

and 4.7 sport, slt and sxt and see who the victor is, I know
it's only a 1/8 mile but irwindale has drags every thursday
night 20 bucks to drag 10 dollars to watch, i suggest we

I know the 5.9 is underpowered and honestly has more mod power potential than the 4.7, but has anyone realized how useless the R/T Dak is? Look at the towing and payload ratings of each Dak type, and you'll see that the R/T can only tow 1800lb...my sister's Ford ZX2 has a similar rating. Obviously payload sux too. Why buy a truck if all all you want is a sports car? The R/T may as well not even have a bed. At least then the weight and air drag reduction would help it edge the 4.7's out there. If yer gonna buy a truck buy a TRUCK!
