Hey guys, just a little story I thought I would tell. I'm a technical consultant for the SE USA. I received a call from a guy at DC,,,in huntsville AL I believe early this week.
We talked briefly about a control app, when I asked what's it for - he said for testing vehicle computers. (I can't go too deep / privacy laws and what not) Anyway they do the dakota 4.7's there too. I asked if they have any performance programs, and he said yes. He said there's quite a few guys there who drive 4.7 daks (RT's too),but the 4.7 guys could just go over to one of there labs and custom tune their computers,,,Plus they apparently have certain predefined routines/programs for different levels of performance - Just sitting over there. He said they do it for free of course,,and would hook me up if I was ever in the area. He 'claims' they were getting 20-25+ hp from the computer alone - I think he could be way off there,,,as I could tell he wasn't really a gearhead,,but new some of the Dak guys pretty well.
Pretty cool huh?

The guy's an electrical eng.,,,I could tell he was into cars,,,but not really in to them if you know what I mean.
But definitely gonna swing by on my next trip to Georgia!

Wonder if they could do some playing with a blown 4.7? At least get rid of these pesky limiters.

This guy is in Huntsville - I'm not sure how he'd take to me inviting people out there you know. Sort of a buddy-buddy thing. He'd basically be hooking me up,,,if I hook him up,,and since biznuz is biznuz,,I might not be hooking him if he doesn't drop some cash w/me.
He said they can do pretty much anything,,so in theory I would say yes they could.
This was just something I wanted to share w/ya'll cause it was cool - didn't want to get anyone's hopes up.
Just that they can tweak them,,,they do tweak them,,and that there might be a chance for us 4.7 guys/gals :)

Works for DC in powertrain group, but is not a gearhead? OK.
I'd get the rest of the story on that. For one, nobody working at DC is going to just reflash computers with performance anything "if you just ask" or show up. Huge liability with the EPA as well as general liability. If they do it on company time or at the company office, DC Corporate is on the hook for deep pockets lawsuits.
Sorry, it just doesn't happen unless someone is looking to get fired.

Gee,,,I'm really sorry for getting specific there.. No he doesn't work under "The Power Train Group" sign hanging in some mysterious hanger out in Huntsville AL,,, He's a freak'n Elec.Eng. He builds test sets for computers coming down the line. I prefer to leave work at work, but I'll be more than happy to school you in measurement and automation if you'd like. I teach a class in it.
Places are a lot more lax then you think when it comes to contractors, and people they do business with. Hell, I was in FL recently and Lockheed let me handle various components in the long bow system. Not hard to believe. I seriously doubt he would pull that out of his ass.

I was told sometime ago that DC had hot flashes for the POLICE AND FIRE DEPT.4.7L under their Fleet rules.Thanks for the INFO.

Zen, if you think it's just that easy, then truck on over there and get a flash and report back. If your buddy is all you say he is, I'm sure folks will be lining up for your help. Somehow I doubt that will happen, but I've been wrong before.

That's cool Graphite - I seriously doubt I would ever get that chance - I live in Austin, and don't see me going over there anytime soon. The FL was a lucky thing - got to go to cocoa beach during spring break - rocked!
It's just cool to know that they get to toy w/thier trucks over there, and the invite (though a long shot) was cool too.
Kinda gives hope that someone/sometime will be releasing a legitimate 4.7 flash,,and hopefully it won't cost an arm and leg.
