Message:
Just wondering if there were any R/T's w/ just a 360 running this setup on stock pistons?

I'm calculating it up to be about .538/.538 lift & about 224/234 duration.

I'm basically lookin at doing the lightning killer package, and adding the 1.6's. Am I gonna pass emissions(IL.) w/ this whole setup, or is trouble a-brewin? I thought if you were sticking w/ the stock cam go w/ the 1.7's, and then aftermarket cams go w/ 1.6. I dunno still new to this. I would really like to run that cam though.

If ya got 96 or newer vehicle , they dont sample the exhaust. The basically plug into the OBD port and check to see if everything is working properly. I think you can pass , you just have to have that combo "tuned" and not throw any codes.

Yeah its a big cam as it is but I'm just trying to get that last bit of HP out of it N/A as I can.

One guy on the Delphi Forums is claiming he's running a .540+/- w/ 230/240 duration @.05 and I don't believe that that sounds like it'd be having clearance problems.

Just trying to see if anyone else has run my cam w/ 1.7's.

MikeD,
On dragtruk.com there's a fella named Brandon Starling that's supposedly running 1.7s and the KRC220 cam in his '96 Ram. That's what his list of mods state, however it could be a mis-print.

He has his e-mail address listed if you want to contact him.

Mike,

RJames55 on the R/T forum is running that combo. He doesn't show up a lot on the forum but I met him in Ocean City. He still has the stock heads with the 220, 1.7 Crowers and a Powerdyne running like 9-10 PSI. I think he got a 12.0X with that combo. That truck sounds mean and runs. You could try calling Marty as well. HTH.

How do you like the KRC220? I'm looking for a cam with a nice idle lope but I don't have R/T heads yet. DO you have R/T heads, if so, did you ever run the cam on stock heads? I know it won't be as good with stock heads but will it run with stock heads allright until I can get 2.02 R/T heads? I have the M1 and throttle body and all the other usual stuff.

02R/T this cam has a nice idle and lope to it for sure.

And I'm not sure about stock heads I've had these 2.02 R/T heads on for over a year now just replaced the old cam which was equivalent to the KRC 210 cam.

Hey MikeD, do you still have your old cam? I'm thinking about ditching my KRC206 since it's kinda small.

I've been thinking about a KRC210 or KRC220.

Hmm, thanks but I might go with a custom cam now that I'm thinking about it. Did the KRC210 not give you enough power, did the KRC220 pull harder? Any torque loss between the two?

If it helps any, I've ran 1.7RR with my KRC206 which has a .512 lift at the exhaust at 1.6ratio. So the .507 with 1.7ratio should work fine.

Your running the 2.02's too right? I wouldn't get the 220 unless you have a higher stall...mine is around a 2900-3100 stall I can tell it bogs a bit if I barely cruize from a stop but if I punched it from a stop the converter skips right over the low rpms. But my Kammer cam which is the same as the 210 was still a strong cam...just needed a little more topend...of course I had mine degreed in at 108...if I had it installed at 113 straight up it mightof had alot more topend.

I actually have a custom version of the 220 so its not the true one advertised from his site...I've been sworn not to tell so I can't give you the full specs on the exact one I have but w/ the one I have no torque loss and it pulls alot harder on top. I'll dyno it the end of this month.

You sure u don't want it? On KRC's site they have a used 210 cam going for like $150...so you'd be getting one cheaper.

True yours had more lift but the duration was really low...206/210 I believe compared to my 220/230...so by adding 1.7's I'd be adding more lift + making the valve stay open alot longer than the 206 cam did so thats why I'm wondering about clearance issues.

BTW you arent' selling your rockers are you? lol

How bout a straight up trade...cam for rockers? ;)

Have you changed out your Oil pump yet? I did last week before hitting the track. My word, I had tons of crap stuck in the oil pick up screen!~ Mostly fuzz from the red towels that I layed in the lifter vally area to keep the gasket stuff out plus some gasket that must of snuck in! I think I need to replace my lifters since they didn't get enough oil. I now have a HV pump, man that project was a pain in the butt! Had to lift the engine super high, remove Y-pipes and much more. Oil pressure stays at 3/4 now while cruising.
