I thought I read awhile ago that somebody fit a turbo engine from a front wheel drive Chrysler in a Dakota. How did they make the intake and the turbo clear the fire wall. I have a '94 Dakota 4 banger 5 speed.

Yes I remember reading that also. Said it was a real pain to do. Wasn't worth the effort. I know he did have a website showing the install.

i believe it was on ebay..

the turbo sits on the back of the engine and the motor was turned sideways to fit the rear wheel drive. these 2.2/2.5 were in dakotas, just not turbocharged so getting the motor to mount up isnt hard. All he had to do was make a custom intake manifold. It said he used a stock TII manifold and just make a new inlet elbow.

So is the inlet on the intake manifold at the opposite end so it is facing to the front of the truck? That does not sound too hard. Do you think my stock manual trans. will hold up to twice the power?

I've got a '86 Turbo 2.5L Merc Cougar XR-7 that boasts 260HP (Factory not Dyno), Turbo gotta come off to use on the Dirt track. I think the problem would be the manifolds, the T/C is part of the Exhaust manifold assembly one the right side of the engine & weighs about 75LBS.

This is just one of my many on-going Projects/Disasters, But this one is 2yrs in the making and about 3/4 finished.

If I could just keep my Dak runnin I could probably finish up some of these other projects :)

Laterz,
Shank
