Well I just ordered the SMT-6 piggy-back programmer from www.canspeed.com for $825.00 CDN, thats about $600.00 US
It will allow me to modify the fuel maps, Advance or Retard the timing, modify the Lambda (O2 sensor), control NOS, extra injectors and a whole bunch of other stuff.
I went with the SMT-6 because getting the ECU reflashed is costly. The SMT-6 lets you reprogram anytime you need to and is a heck of a lot cheaper than anything else out there. I hate to sound like a commercial, but i've been looking for something like the FAST system but wasnt going to spend $3K.
I should get it next week some time. Once I have it installed I will put more posts up here.

Congratulations Tom. I too have been looking at the SMT-6 and will be going that route in about a month or so. What I found was 340 for the unit and 210 for the software. After install & dyno tuning I'll be looking at a total investment of about 800 - 900. I live in Jacksonville Fl and will probably have to drive down to Orlando for the install & tuning. A good qualified tuner is essential to maximize the potential of the unit. Is your Dak a 4.7? Mine is a Grand Cherokee w/4.7

I was so close to getting that but was unsure because not many Dakotas had gotten it so I didn't know what the outcome would be in the longrun if the computer would eventually relearn back to its normal state after time.

Definately let us now how it goes and give us Dyno #'s on the difference it made.

It's going on a 97 dakota c/c 5.2L 2wd auto 3.55 gears

Heres a list of the current mods,

belltech 2/3" lowering kit
MP Magnum R/T heads
KRC 210B cam
Autolite 3923s
MSD 6BTM
Holley 52mm TB on stock intake ( I have a 2bbl M1 I will install later)
Edelbrock headers
Magnaflow exhaust & cat-back
Powerdyne S/C w/6Lb boost
R/T 17" wheels with 255/65/17 Scorpion Zeros
Mike Leach Flashed PCM

I havent had it down the 1/4 yet but did a run using the Gtech and ran a 15.11 @ 98.1mph
That was with a full tank of gas, spare tire and only 4lbs boost.
The Mike Leach flash is retarding the timing when under boost and adding more fuel.
I believe that the motor can use more timing and less fuel because the s/c is already adding fuel.
I also have the autotap hardware and software so I can monitor all the vitals when I make a run.

Hey Tom D. Where are you from?? I live in Kitchener Ontario. I would like to see how that programmer goes. I have a Kenne Bell S/C and am having a few problems with the computer(i think). I would like to find someone who know's haw to tune the damn thing!!!!

chrysler aplications they were getting a sparatic
crank sensor signal and that I may only be able
to retard the timing but the fuel would work
great.

Yes we do, the SMT6 piggyback unit is compatible with a wide range of
vehicles, please be aware that most Dodge vehicles that we have worked
with have a inconsistent crank signal, if this car is one of them than
you will only be able to retard ignition, fuel mod's will work fine.

To RaZoR1 - I currently reside in Regina.
To J and J - I talked to the rep and he says the sporadic crank signal is common with Neons as they use a wierd crank signal. My 97 dakota uses a Hall-effect pickup and Has 8 evenly spaced notches (45 deg apart) on the flywheel, so it shouldnt be a problem.
