In that case my R/T must be making somewhere around 650tq at the track :P

I have a '02 Dakota R/T, I was surprised to find out that it had only 250hp. What (cheaply) can I do to it to get it close to 350hp. I don't want to bore it or put Nitro on it. Please no smart a$$ answers.

100 hp is not cheap. If you figure Horse Power at an average of $35 a pony, you will have to spend $3,500 to get a hundred of them. Good Luck, and if you find a miracle cure e-mail me with it.

Unless you have a few grand, I won't worry about getting 300-350HP. Since you say your not mechanically inclined, that means Labor will cost you double the cost for each HP. Parts+Labor=Major Bucks.

Go with a Supercharger setup for easy power.
Anything else will cost you more and require lots of down time.

300hp isn't that hard to make at the crank.
STOCK+SUPERCHARGER=350hp
STOCK+PCM,TB,EXHAUST,AIR INTAKE=300hp
+HEADERS,ROCKERS,Modded Intake or M1=330hp
+CAM,HEADS,CHAIN=360HP+
+SUPERCHARGER=400HP+
+NOS=500HP PLUS NEW BOTTOM END
Just a quick run down of what you might need.

What did you mean by Stock + Supercharger=350hp and then below that a few lines you had supercharger = 400hp+.

Slap on a supercharger to a stock engine and you'll get 300-350hp

Slap on a supercharger to a modded engine and you'll get around 400hp.

Lemme see... 2001 4.7L w/HO manifold, HO cams, KB Optimizer II, Cold air, and a Flowmaster 50-series along with a 100 shot of nitrous is pushing 327hp/548tq... My 2001 5.9L with 360AirIntakez, 52mm F&B, M1 2bbl, Headers, Cutout, MBRP Cat-Back, B&G M1 PCM, and Slicks along with a 75 shot NX with TG nitrous injection plate should make 650tq! Time to hit the dyno! :P

The horsepower figure sounds about right but that max torque sounds like a spike or a dyno burp to me.

Save up for a Supercharger+Install.
Best bang for the buck plus good resale item.

Any other mod I would say
1.PCM
2.F&B Throttle Body
3.K&N Air System
4.High Flow Cat
5.Cam
6.Heads
7.Intake
8.Headers
9.So on, gears,stall,ect.

Ok... before I was thinking about doing these mods. tell me what you think.

1. Chip
2. Duel exhaust with headers and Flowmasters.
3. K&N Filter

How much hp. gain would I get with these mods.?

Don't get a Jet chip, anything else you'll have to give or take on options. A PCM would not be good with a Supercharger due to having the timing advance, unless you pick the Hypertech which will alow 87octane rating.
Duel exhaust is heavier and might loss torque, sounds good and looks good. Also shorty headers don't improve much power over stock, you'll need the PPH headers with the Y-pipe from KRCPERFORMANCE which delete the pre-cats and supply you with Kat boxies that simulate o2 sensors.
K&N filter would be good, just not the drop in type. No point. You could go with a shaker setup. Hood + Ram air sytle. That's also not good for a supercharger setup. But looks good and works great on a N/A engine

All that might get you around 270hp

What I'm trying to say is. You'll have to choose now on either getting a Supercharger now or having to get rid of a bunch of performance parts if want it later.

Some stuff will work great together some will not work at all and some will but won't work well.

Thanks...so if you were me and you had (maybe) 2 or 3 grand to put on your truck without putting nitrous or boring it out. What would you do the reason why I don't want nitrous is because I want "all the time hp", and boring it out I think weakens the motor. Anyway what would you do?

Save up for the s/c and install. Since you are not mechanically inclined, you'll have to spend a lot to have heads, cam, headers, etc installed.

2000 4.7 CC auto, clear corners, Magnaflow catback, Kenne Bell s/c, Aquamist water injection.

I would put that into a savings account and wait until you get enough for a good supercharger like a Vortec or something. Try Superchargersonline.com

The bolt on stuff will never be enough, a good supercharger will give you power all the time and would get you the most for your money.

A cheap supercharger would give you trouble, blown head gaskets, heat soak, thrown belts & maybe more. So get a good one and do it once.
A good setup will make your engine last long and give lots of power.

The rest will nickle and dime you to death. It cost money to make a Truck fly. Save for a sport car if you want fast and cheap. Dodge parts cost alot, FORD/CHEVY is hell of alot cheaper.

So go with a Supercharger or trade up.
I've spend around 4k myself in parts for my truck, but I've done all the work myself. I bet if would of cost another 2k in labor if not more.

You can try a group discount or some one else here could direct you in the right location and more insight on Supercharger than I can offer.

I like Boost :) I also have a Turbo car and I love the surge.

Way more money, Speedtweaks did one with some other R/T owner and that went south. They spent 6K? Got mixed reviews and I don't know of anyone else with a Kit for the Dakota. Only guys with custom setups. Hell it's cheaper to drop in a new 408 Kit or KRC engine package.

Yes, but like some people the 255/55R17 that come on the truck are a bit too wide to do any major spinning. I would recommend getting thinner tires or changing the rear-end so that you have more 0-60 than top end.
