Hello I bought my 2001 dakota club cab in November and I want to know what kinds of things I can do to boost the performance and apperance of my truck. I have the 4.7L Automatic (ALL WHEEL DRIVE) 3.55 rear axle and the truck came with the heavy duty towing package which was the bigger battery and amp also the heavy duty suspension. I would like to change my P265/70R16 wheels and tires to some 20 or 22 inch rims with low profile tires. Now for the engine. I would like to say that money is no object but Im not that lucky. I do have the opertunity to sink about 8,000 - 10,000 into the truck around Christmas time. So if any of you know what kinds of things I can do to boost my engine to a real performer. I should also mention that I am trying to get as much speed and power out of it that I can. I want to still take it offroad with my stock tires but I would like to beat some of these Honda's off the line at some intersections. Thanks

First off 22 in. rims will not fit without major body mods. 20 in. will if you do not lower it too much. THe first performance mod should be a Gibson of Flowmaster Cat-back exhaust system. After that go for a larger throttle body. Check the web pages of other members in the Dakota web ring to see what they have done.

Take the cold air intake kit first. It's a lot cheaper than the TB and adds more power. Do the TB after. I had a fully custom 3" Flo Pro Cat back done with 18" stainless tip. It's awseome and sounds great. Have had several great comments in just a week. The thing with a custom is it's often cheaper and is fully weleded no clamps whatsoever and warrantied locally.

It cost me with taxes $350.00 CAN around $225 U.S Check around and fine some reputable performance muffler garages that have actuall pro race cars. Fully welded is the way to go.

Well Damn, $8-10K at X-mas. Ship it to Kenne Bell, supercharge it, have him slap on some 20's and I am sure he is buddies with Hotchkis suspension. Before you know what hit you that pesky Porsche, Acura, or Ferrari down the street will only be in your rear view mirror. So total it all up and go race in the high 12's in the 1/4.

kevin, how do you know 22's will not fit?! THEY WILL TOO FIT!! I have seen it! I have 20's on mine with a 6" drop, so 22's (even with a mild drop) will work. i would like to throw 22's on mine when the price of the tires come down.
and topher you said money is an object, so why are you concidering 22's? rims and tires will run you between $5000 and $7000. try to find some used 20s or new 18's and spend the rest on suspencion and engine mods. latter
