why bother with a 3.9, if i had a v6, everytime i went to do a mod, i would always think in the back of my head, if only i had a v8, only a v8
just do your truck with all show and no go . the only way u would have something is to be like bernd and supercharge a v6 or get a turbo.

You will not see tremendous gains from bolt on performance mods anyway. I have sunk far too much money in the past into bolt-ons thinking I will actually feel a difference and very little overall effect. External to the engine, I would stop after exhuast, intake, and possibly PCM. If you still want to increase performance after that you need to try a different cam, rockers, heads, manifold, etc. Still more? Forced induction and NOS? Still more? Jet engine? More?!!?! Teleporter. Bottom line, most bolt on performance mods will not do enough to justify their cost. Spend your money on improving the style of your dak or doing some larger performance upgrades that will make a difference. Don't believe people tell you that they could feel a difference with the new plugs they installed or that their FIPK actually dyno'd a 26 HP gain. Claims like these are preposterous and will get you no where as far as performance is concerned.

my belly pan gasket has been blown over a yr, so it was lacking moxie. yesterday, after i installed the m1, KN FIPK, new plugs + wires, msd ign. parts, pcm, it has alot more perk that i def. feel in the butt dyno. i guess bolt ons for a v8 are alot better building then a v6. oh yea, theres a few RTs here running low low 13s with all bolt ons. thats damn good for a truck. anybody would be happy with that

98 is right, if you dont start getting serious like performance did and get a new intake manifold, new computer, and new ignition, not to mention roller rockers and a more aggressive cam profile, you wont see major improvement on your engine, but pulleys usually do give a decent, albeit not huge improvement, march says that their 3 pulley kit will give about 12 RWHP, not like some import companies that say each of their pulleys gives another 15

i'd stay stop wasting your money on that v6 and just save up for a motor swap...besides a v6 will always sound like crap.

Alight guys, he wants info on the pulleys. He has all your thoughts as far as V6s but obviously he wants to keep what he has. I respect that. I have a V6 too. Id love to drop in a V8 but its simply not possible in my current situation. Cant loose 3K in cash or in the time while its down. Whats up with the pulleys? Dont they make your accessories less charged? Later and have a nice evening to you all.

if you get underdrive pulleys, yes, they run the alternator less, but you can get lightweight pulleys that also increase horsepower, but are the same size

I haven't heard any posts from anyone who has underdrive pulley's. Can I get some feedback from anyone who has the pulley's and what they think of them? Which is better a 2 pulley set or a three pulley set...and then what manufacturer has the better set?
Anyone??
Anyone??

try www.truckperformance.com

they have a 3 piece kit for a 98 3.9 kota. You shouldnt have any trouble running an alt. underdrive on a 98 model (newer kotas are different) but if you want to feel safe about it, just get a alt. pulley from a genII dakota. Its about one step between a genIII pulley and an underdrive.
