They failed to reveal the temp and location of the testing so I'm sure that had a big thing to do with it!

Must've been a bad track on a bad day... Even at LVMS which is at least .5-.7 off of sea level the 99-01 L's run 14.5-14.6 and the 02+'s run around 14.0-14.1.

slower than 13.5? I smell some BS. I've seen some fast lightnings but never one faster than 13.40 stock. Most I've seen at Ennis, Tx have been in the high 13's low 14's.

Sounds like their times are off by about a half a second or so. Because even a "stock" SS runs a 15.5 and the Lightnings always run anywhere from mid 14's to high 13's depending on conditions. Usually tho, this magazines have these SO CALLED comparisions and they are never fair. Like they alway put a none supercharged truck up against a Lightning (does that sound fair)thats apples to oranges. For now the Lightning is the only truck thats highly modded from the factory. Thats why I can't wait for the SRT-10 (even tho its not s/c)even a "stock" Dakota RT with just a supercharger installed can run the same numbers a lightning runs but thats why a RT is not up in the $30,000 price tag range!

They probably did the test at LACR in L.A. Pamona, CA. 2800ft track altitude, and probably 95-100 degrees the day of the shootout. They had a Dakota R/T shootout there hosted by Sport Truck. I was part of it, and was about 6-7 tneths off my normal times that day because of the heat and track conditions. The track was covered in dust which made traction bad. I was chirping second with slicks.

im' so freakin tired of chevy and ford articles, not too mention 90% of the time reader's rides are full of them exclusively. When are the dakota men gonna get some recognition??? beyond that, i'm irritated that there isnt a manufacturer willing to provide the same billet interior and engine accessories for dakotas that the chevys have...anyone else feel this way?

Magazines love to cover new stuff. The Dakota hasnt really changed in 7 yrs. Thats why there arent too many of them in magazines.
If/when they put the hemi in the Dak` , every frickin magazine will have it.
Someday , we will get attention.

The S-10's haven't changed in even a longer time, but they still make the mags. Dodge is just the bastard child of the sport truck market when it comes to magazines.

Sport Truck ran a 15.1 in a fully loaded RC Hemi... and we know how bad they suck at driving. The fastest posted time i have seen on a SS is 15.2 on silveradoss.com or what ever it is

PS- Everyone's always shouting compare apples to apples.Well, put a CC Hemi against an SS. The SS is gonna win.

sorry, i havent seen any runs with a CC... but i imagine it would be better than that 16.06 with the SS. Club Cabs really dont add that much weight... maybe 200-300 lbs, which would be about 2-3 tenths off the 1/4.

the hemi will still weigh a lot less than the SS and has a lot less power loss... remember that the SS totes around a AWD system that is not only heavy but takes more power to turn four axles

Do you think that the Syclone would be faster if it was 2WD?

maybe if the Syclone is making over 600hp. In case you didn't know, stock AWD systems in Syclones can break realtively easily at the track...if you launch on 4 slicks with enough power to pull the front end the driveshaft will snap, even a carbon fiber shaft, i've seen it happen on a syclone and several GSX AWD eclispes. Anyways the Syclone in my opinion is the baddest street truck ever made, i'd take one over a Lightning anyday.
