Message:
I am going to be installing a Vortech supercharger and wondered if there is some sort of valet switch you can put in to prevent it from producing boost while not messing up the driveability? I would like to be able to disable the boost when taking it in for servicing and loaning it out for moving stuff (it is a truck afterall).

Good question. I kinda wondered about that myself. With the SC you have to run premium all the time. If you could cut the boost somehow then you could go back to regular ol 89...

Ok, first question- can you make it valet able- yes- set a low rev limit on it so it cant be romped on. You should have a new ignition with it- crane hi6r is what mine came with.
Second question- can you run 89 with a scer- yes- dont rev it high so it produces boost.

You could also get real fancy and take the belt off of the supercharger and just run a filter somewhere in between- instantly NA.

Daker, have you ran your's with the blower on it?
If you have, will you list your mods and times?I recently purchased one and would like to know what they're capable of (with opinions coming from R/Ts with the Vortech).

Thanks, Buddy.

Well I used to have it on, now I have sadly sold it.
99 cc r/t
m1 2bbl, vortech sq, kennedys alky injection. Ran a 14.2 at 102 with a 2.3x 60 foot. This was with serious tranny problems as well.
Managed to cut a 8.8x at 81.x mph 1/8th with a 2.1 60 ft before It would just not shift at all. That was with jba headers, mp pcm, and gutted cat. It had ALOT more in it. Shoulda run easily deep 13s.
I only sold it because I blew up my tranny- my fault, and had to get some money for a full race tranny with stall.
I recomend the SMC alky injection for it. The difference is unbelievable with it.
With a few bolt ons and slicks, that scer should get ya easy mid 13s. The vortech is a great product.

Scott, you sent me a few e-mail's asking about the history of your blower right? if so, daker777 is the 2nd owner i told you about

to answer your question, you can drive around all day with the supercharger hooked up, not go into boost, and run 87 octain. JUST DONT GET ON IT!
