I recently installed a 52mm Holley Throttle Bodie on my 1995 Dakota and it makes a loud hissing sound when I first start the engine. It only does it for about the first couple of minutes, but I figured I'd better ask to see if anyone knows what causes this. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's a brand new Holley 52mm throttle bodie which directly replaced the original TB.

'95 and earlier throttle bodies had EGR bores. If that Holley wasn't designed to run on the earlier motors, that might be your problem. Last time I checked, the Holley billet TB was only for '96 and up.

What kind of air cleaner assembly do you run? If you changed it to an open element style ...all you hear is the air flow through the idle air control valve ...which flows a lot of air during cold start ups to increase idle. It is totally normal and dont worry about it. I had the same noise on my 93 with a eldebrock open element air cleaner...which i since changed to the late model Dak intake setup to use my nitrous system which now the noise is gone. If you have the stock air cleaner assembly then i do think it is something to do with the throttle body.

I have a K&N air intake thing which is pretty much free flowing. Yeah it does only do it when I first start my truck and it's been sitting for a while. Thanks.

The '95 and older have idle ports in the bores-- 96 and up TBs won't work correctly on the older style setups (and vice versa).

I have 1-2 95 style 52mm F&Bs with the correct idle ports in the bores.

Plus a bunch of 50mm F&Bs.

Email me for more info.
