How do you do it? Its located in the plastic housing prior to the throttle body and goes in kind of weird. Can I buy one from a 2000 and then do the 1/2 threaded hole install. I cannot figure out how to get the factory plastic one in a steel tube.

Thanks

Since it is already in the air box i owuld just tleave it there. ulness you are changing out your intake system this is the best place. For me I put mine in the intake manifld where tehre was a plug from the factory when I put my intake system in.

Well, I bought an aftermarket cone filter with the chrome pipe so that is why I need to try and relocate the IAT sensor. If I can't relocate it, I guess I need to sell it. I was hoping maybe I could just buy one from a previous year, thread it in the pipe, and plug in the same connector.

Anyone?

I bought a 2000 IAT sensor because it has threads on it and mounted it in my CAI tube. That way I could leave my stock IAT sensor in place and just switch the cable back if I need to. My truck is a '02 CC+ 4.7L, hope this helps.

Thanks. I think that helps. I'll price out a 2000 sensor. I was hoping the sensor was the same with the only difference being how it is mounted. This way, I can leave the stock one in the plastic housing prior to the throttle body. I just hope the wiring connector is the same for 2000 as it is for 2003.

Or put it right into the intke manifold like i did. There is a plug there that you can remove and put the sensor into. I then jsut put the plug in teh intake kit where the sensor was so that I didn't lose it...

Thanks guys. Guess I have to find out what a 2000 AIT is worth. Is it worse to have it in the intake versus further away like others have mentioned doing? Chris, how is your system working? Notice anything different?
Thanks again.

Brad

Build one of these. Its adjustable and you can turn it off if you need to be in stock specs because the IAT sensor stays in its stock location.

http://home.earthlink.net/~rpkast/IAT%20Adjuster/

All the parts can be bought at Radio Shack for about $20. One hour to install. Search this site for parts lists.

It works for me, Id say 5-7 hp but I only notice the gains when its 80 degrees or more.

I have had no problems putting mine in the intake. It is actually where the sensor was on my 2000. BUT i did do it at about 200 miles so I don't knwo if I am losing any performance.

on the 5.2-5.9 the IAT is in the manifold. During stop and go driving in hot weather the sensor becomes heat soaked from being in contact with the manifold and the computor adjust accordingly. If it is installed in the inlet air tube the sensor stays considerably cooler, in my case drivabilty was much improved.

I just installed my intake temp gauge and also a air/fuel gauge. I can definitely see an increase on intake temperature sitting in traffic on my way home from work. as long as I am on the highway moving along at 80 mph it runs 15-20 warmer than the incomming air. However the A/F gauge is typically on the rich side whether it is on the highway or moving in traffic. Unless the ECM is retarding the timing I haven't seen a difference. My IAT is in its stock location about 4" away from the intake temperature thermocouple.

would it not just be easier to move IAT to intake then mess around with building and intalling a IAT ajuster.

franlofter, I was thinking the same thing depending on how the truck responds to the IAT in the intake and the CAI on it. I don't know. Maybe its not worth it. Anyone want a nice brand new 3" chrome piped CAI with a conical filter?

Yes, it would be easier to just move it. I just decided to do the adjuster in case it had any effect on an emmissions test.

They are getting tough here in Texas.

The adjuster really isnt that hard to make. Try it, its kinda fun. I felt like I was 10 again building model cars.

I have not moved mine yet, I have the 01 4.7 and IAT sensor is not threaded so i will need to buy a threaded IAT sensor and leave stock one in and if I have any trouble with emissions I can just plug the stock one back in.
