I would buy an easyout set at NAPA or some other place along the same lines. Easy outs are made just for removing broken bolts. Just make sure you get a high quality kit so you don't break them.
The other way that someone else on here has suggested was to spotweld another bolt to the broken off stud. This would give you something to grab with a wrench. Only problem is you don't get any mistakes.

I've spot welded larger nuts to the broken bolts. Just find a nut with a thread dia the next size large than the bolt od. Then just fill the hole with weld. Works great, the heat also helps break the bond. If there is enough of a stud left you can throw a washer in if needed. This has always worked for me....Good luck!

Send your e-mail address to me and I will send you an add for a drill guide made by Laperriere Engineering Inc. It is designed to line up the drill and E-Z out so everything goes in straight and on center. It works on 3.9,5.2& 5.9 engines.
My e-mail is dan57@ees.eesc.com

Hey I've got a 90 3.9 and the same problem. I've got like no mechanical knowledge. One of the bolts broke and that thing that's attached to the air intake by a tube it lose. I hope you know what I'm talking about, It fits over the outside of the exhaust manifold.
Anyway, I can't weld and don't have an engine crane to remove the whole engine so could I take the manifold off while its in the engine bay and fix the bolt?
Thanks a lot if you can help me.

I had 2 broke off right from the factory and broke
another during header install. I have seen a lot of
93 to 95 the same way from the factory.

You can try an easyout but use the Snap-On type, looks
like a socket with the easyout on the end.

I had to drill them to size 5/16 I believe and tap them
3/8. Be Sure And Center Punch the stud dead center.

A guide would work well, if you are not familiar
with that type of operation don't try it. just put the
old manifolds on and drive it to a qualified mechanic
and have them drill and repair. about 1/2 hour each.

We do it in our shop all the time.

Or you will be pulling the heads or run with
leaky headers.

this happened on an old s-10 i put an engine in,

thread the loose piece back into the head, crank it as tight as you can, then remove it, if your lucky the stuck stud will turn out as well.

I laughed at my machanic too, but i soon at my words because the stud pulled out like it was not broken, its worth a try.

goodluck
