I finished up my injector project last night.
Removed DesignIII and installed DesignII sytle injectors and connectors on my 2001/R/T
So it can be done if wannted.

Can I say Sweet! The connectors went on like a charm and wow do they look good and clip on great!~ Easy off Easy on. The FMS 24# work great! Idle is smoother, power is greater an the main thing was the dam click clack noise is reduced by a hell of alot! The four pattern hole must atomize the fuel much better than the stock single hole which just funnels fuel into the system. For only $20 for the connectors I'm real happy, since I got the FMS24# for free, not to mention it's so much easier to find the older sytle than the new cheap ones.

Did I mention no MIL light either, did normal driving and speed driving too.

Old Injectors Stock (bosh)?21# 13ohms New FMS24# Four Hole 18ohms

Not to reign on your parade but I hope I don't bring ya down on this but I had mine dynoed many-a-times w/ the 24# inj on and everytime it stayed in the 315-320rwtq range and only gained like 5hp over the stock ones.

Well after putting the stock injectors back on the average rwtq now is in the 345-355 range. So I've decided that all that torque I'm losing isn't worth the 5 or so extra HP I'm getting on the top end, yeah the top end felt better but I also had issues with starting w/ the 24#ers on it would a "glug-glug-glug" type start which was weird, also happens to my buddy who put his on as well.

I think I've swapped these things out about 10 times, I'd hear a tip that the 24#'s were better so I'd put em on, then hear from the guy at B&G and says it works better w/ whatever the computer fuel map is setup for so I'd put the stocks back on. But only the dyno #'s prove the point that our stock 2001 injectors work fine until you start getting into S/Cers.

But I'll leave that decision up to you...sure was a tough one for me though cuz I spent all that money on em.

Where the 24# design III or II? Four hole or one hole?

I haven't dynoed between the two, but they sure make the truck feel stronger with a much less eratic idle feel. The noise is also reduced too.

I don't think I'll be putting back the old ones anytime soon.

No problem starting either, first crank starts the engine.

I think I'll be going Supercharger sooner or later any ways. Got to keep up with all the new cars that runs 13's out of the box (SRT-4).

Go check your tailpipe and see what it looks like around the rim. After about 500-750 miles of driving, then look at it again....

It's going to be all sooty and crappy looking from where the engine is running rich.

When you go to the dyno, be sure to go to one that has a wide-band air/fuel meter and get a reading all the way across the rpm band.

If I start having problems, then I'll go with something smaller, but I'm not going back the design III style injectors. I checked the exit pipe while doing some wot and It doesn't spit out any black smoke like it's running rich. Maybe my engine likes the extra fuel or it's not really putting out 24#

Yeah what Intense said it was like it was carbed or somethin. It was really weird cuz it would fire right up the first crank then if I went to the store and came back out there'd be that delay getting to the full idle rpms.

The 24#ers do help keep the engine running alot cooler since its not struggling for fuel I did notice that and I might swap them back out for summer driving. But one thing I saw was that even though the A/F ratio was at 12.5-13.0 w/ the bigger injectors I still made the most power at 14.0 which is odd. Guess that old saying is sorta true "Lean is Mean".

Because my Design III plastic ones have already gone to the crapper (28k). They are so loud that I can hear them across the street when I let my wife take the truck. Maybe the excess operating load cause them to go bad? Over 80% injector pulse? Now that I replaced them with Design II with the Metal case you cant even hear them with the hood open.

I got those injectors for free, rather than paying $200? $250 for some new ones. I rather get a PP3 or something with the money I saved.

Anyone know the difference(besides the colors) between the '99 and '00 injectors on the R/Ts? My buddy's '00 has red injectors while my '99 has white ones.

There is an in between size injectors in the designIII.... 21lb/hr Bosch

I just installed them in my ride last week. No difference performance-wise, but I can sleep easier at night, knowing I fixed the lean condition it was experiencing under boost.

.alex. had them on his 2000 CC, and was running very rich... I wouldn't recommend them on a vehicle without some hefty mods. The stockers flow sufficiently.

I would stick with what feels better. Some trucks can run the 24lbers and some cant. Only way to tell is to hit up a dyno. I know my truck bogged like h eLL just from a 160degree thermostat. So whatever floats your boat. If the revs jump then drop then jump its too rich. If it just jumps your money.
