Subject: 4.7 In-truck piston swap???

Can't this be done by simply removing the plugs, drop the oil-pan, drop the main-cradle, pull off all the caps and pull the pistons without pulling the motor from the truck. Seems like the easy way to go to forged pistons and do a bottome end overhaul at the same time.

Nothing is "easy"

It won't be an "in-truck" type of operation.

The forged pistons are heavier than the stock pistons. The entire rotating assembly will need to be re-balanced. Nobody makes forged pistons at the stock size. All that I have seen for the 4.7's start at .020" over in size. You will have to remove the engine and have the block bored.

Hey Duner,
Are you still running factory pistons with your turbo setup?

Not having any money sucks. The way summer class is going to go, I won't even be able to work 2 jobs, that really sucks. Oh well , if my work at wal-mart for 6 months pushing carts and get in good with the manager then switch over to their dist. center in Searcy plan works , this time next year I'll be making enough cash to actually do some serious sh$t.

Please send all donations to PO Box 1000, Box 153, ASU-Beebe , AR, 72012

Thanks
