Hawkeye,
I went through 3 to get one that worked, Jet, Robert Shaw ???-180, and Robert Shaw GT755-180.
Jet 180 ran at 195*
Robert Shaw ???-180 seperated inside the block and ran about 130(they don't work at all in pieces)
Robert Shaw GT755-180 has worked well and runs at 180-185*.
These are a PITA to change out in a 4.7. Try your best to only do it once.

Well, i just got my 755-180 in the mail a couple days ago. How would i go about changing the thermostat? I mean, i know the basics, but got any tips? Any help would be great, thanks. :)

Will putting a cooler t-stat in help the detonation problem that is frequent on the dodge trucks? Mine doesnt detonate much unless under hard accel or heavy towing.

I was looking around under the hood of my Dak this weekend and I have one question about the thermostat. From tracing the upper radiator hose to the block, it looks like the thermostat is under the alternater. Is this correct?

Try following the BOTTOM radiator hose to the block.
I believe that the thermostat on the 4.7l is mounted
on the bottom of the engine.
