Subject: SLOW ROLL PAN?
IP: Logged

Message:
i have a roll pan, and most other dak owners have one too. i was always troubled by their areodynamics. the back of all the roll pans ive seen are coupled, so wouldnt this be a big drag on our trucks? imagine going 30+ and holding your roll pan against the wind... it would drag on it alot. ive been thinkin about making some sort of deflector that could route the air smoothly down and under the roll pan, not into it. going 115+, i would think a bolted on pan might flap around alot, causing stress on the screws and maybe the paint... i might get a steel pan and have it welded in with a deflector.

I have to say that you are very creative, where do you get your material from. Anything has to be more aeriodynamic than whats on our trucks stock.

actually, i would think the stock rear bumper is more areodynamic, as it doesnt take such a big slice of air as a roll pan

I don't think it would really make that big of a difference, either pos. or neg.. I mean the air getting ripped under our trucks is gonna be pretty turbulent anyway. I've never heard of someone blaming bad track times on their roll pans... I know that I didn't notice a difference at all when I got my steel one installed,,,,,probably shaved a couple pounds in the process. I could see if you were constantly cruising above a $1.50, but.......
