I have a 2000 RT and was wondering which is better. I read a lot here about how impressive the mopar PCM is, but the gas prices aren't right now. I don't want to be locked down putting 92 octane into my truck. Hypertech says you can choose your octane and are claiming some big power gains which are close to the mopar PCM. Which one should I get?

I would go with the hypertech pcm. Better price on your wallet for gas and better power. I can get you one for $325. Visit my site and check them out: www.v8performance.com

I recently bought the hypertech for my 99 5.2 CC. It woke up the sleeping giant big time. And yes, with the gas prices they are, I use the feature to toggle from 89 to 92 octane fuel. Good buy for me. Just my $.02

Does the Hypertech work with the older OBD-I computers? I have the 5.9L out of a 95 Ram and I was just wondering if I can get a Hypertech or if I should just use, the Mopar PCM.

Thanks
Dan

I have a 2002 R/T and i would really like it if hypertech came out with the Power programmer III but the tech at hypertech do not make an item for my truck yet, i would really want one though. I had a jet chip on my 01 QC 4x4 with the 4.7. it was the Jet Stage 1, it did help the computer had to learn it but it did help a little, best gas milage and performance with it was with 93 octane. i would reccomend doing the High flow intake and exaust and a thermostat and going with the stage 2 instead of the stage 1, there both about the same price, and you will like it better and feel it more in the butt dyno.

For the newer 4.7 liter engines like I have in a 2002 Dakota, check out Superchips. They are developing a programmer for newer Dodge's. I contacted their sales dept. and was told it should be out around the end of May or first of June.

According to Dave at B&G, the reg is about as aggressive or slightly less than the MP, the M1 is more aggressive mostly with timing. I had the reg and did notice a difference from stock, upgraded to M1 recently but just got my truck out from winter and haven't beat on it yet........

No you don't need the M1. 90% of your everyday driving will not be near your peak rpm but the additional timing will help your bottom end and midrange. You'll only hit 5400 rpm when you keep it pegged which is the shift rpm of the M1 flash.
