mjhipp: Sure I'll believe you get 20 MPG, so long as you'll believe my 3.9L has 500 HP from a tornado air mod. Please.

Adam,

Nice site, however you have the 5.2 listed as an OHC engine, which is incorrect. Unless you've done some MAJOR fabrication, you definately have a pushrod engine with OHV, not OHC.

Not a flame, just a correction.

Nice truck man!

Runamonk, what engine did you get again, a V6, for gas mileage, a Dak, for gas mileage, huh, just to have, what?

I dont even believe you, I bet you got the 4 banger and you won't admit it.

You're a smart guy. I'll throw good ol math away and just go by what the guy said the guy said to figure my mileage from now on. What was I thinkin?

Thanks for opening my eyes buddy. PFFFFFT. Oops.

01 Motorsport, thats about what I get too, sounds about right, too bad our V6 buddy had to believe somebody without getting a second opinion.

A SECOND OPINION

Well, here they are, and you still don't believe them cuz youre in denial about your smaller, weaker engine being less efficient, and hurting your ego. Seen it a thousand times.

Dude, just buy a 4.7 and get it over with, OR, IF you can make friends, which I doubt, ask a buddy you trust that owns one, cuz you dont trust us, I've had mine for a year, and that guy you based your hard facts on DOESNT EVEN HAVE ONE ------->

We purchased the 03 Dakota SXT CC, 3.9L V6 in clear coat silver. Wonderful truck but the 3.9 does lack a great deal of power compared to some of the bigger models with a the 4.7 or larger.

I'm not generally a person who goes light on the pedal so I burn up a little more gas than I need too. Now that said, If I were to baby it I could probably pull of around 20MPG on the freeway if I didn't punch it, didn't pop it out of OD occasionally etc etc. That being said, the 4.7 or the 5.2 for that matter isn't going to be getting 20 MPG or greater ( 27MPG as someone stated earlier ).

Now as far as me having a 4 banger, uh no. Dodge doesn't even sell a 4 banger for these trucks anymore, they haven't for a long time.

Grow up.

Just tonight, about an hour ago, I was crusing down the road at 47 on cruise in 5th gear and i was getting 24-25 mpg. It was 11:00pm and the road was very flat, radio on, heat on (not that that matters :P) and Im driving a 98 Dak 4x4 3.9 5spd. It can be done, but its hard :P

I was on cruise on the highway yesterday at 70 and was getting 13. Go figure
