Subject: Paper towel in the engine!??!!?
IP: Logged

Message:
I had my intake off and was cleaning the inside of the throttle body when my idiot brother decided to scare me and turn on my truck. When he did this, the paper towel(one piece) i was using was sucked into the running motor. It didnt really make any noises or anything and it has been about a week since it happened and no mil lights or anything else has happened. Could this have done anything to the inside of the motor, or the cats?? Please let me know if anyone knows anything about this.

better than sucking a washer or something else down in the motor, that would equal and a$$ wupping...lol...brothers can be mean and stupied sometimes but lots of us have them:) but look at it this way the towel will just burn up,this one time i was working on my old p/k and had the carbs off and dropped a washer down the tunnel ram sucked big time i had the tear the motor completly apart,i found it and had the motor running again that night,if you ever do drop sometime metal down there, even the smallest metal shaving find it before you turn that key over it could cost you a motor.

I was doing an intake maniflod swap on a Chevy 350. While putting the bolts in for the intake I dropped one and after searching I never did find it. I figured it was stuck in some little crevas somewhere and just got another one.

Wrong.

I dropped it right down in the intake and it ended up sticking out of one of the intake valves. New head. New piston.

Moral of the story. Always find the bolt.

always keep some kinda magnet nearby. i have this magnet made for reaching into small areas and it extends like a radio antenna. i havent dropped anything in my engine yet but im sure it would be a great tool for getting an object out of the engine.
