Subject: '02 5.9 FIPK fit '03 5.9??

Message:
will the K&N FIPK for the 2002 5.9 fit on my 2003 5.9???????

they are the exact same arent they??? they have a part # for the 2002, but there isnt one for the 2003.

i emailed K&N and this is what they sent back

"Dear Customer,

Our kits are application specific and emissions legal so they do not cross over to other years or models. I have no dimensions for the kits so I cannot recommend any possible fits. It may fit, but it would not be emission legal."

It will fit, 99.9% sure. They only difference in the FIPK in the last 7 years has been the relocation bracket for the cruise control, and I doubt the cruise changed any between 2002 and 2003. I have the FIPK on my 2002, K&N sends out generic emails that generally "fit" your question. I dont think you have anything to worry about.

I too, would be willing to bet that the 2002 version will fit a 2003. Like others said, the only difference between the early year model FIPK's and the 2001/2002 is the cruise control bracket and mine (2002) came with a brace that attaches to the intake mainfold to support the K&N tube.

Before you waste any money on the 360Intakez consider the fact they use the stock air hat. The stock air hat SUCKS for air flow. If you want to save money - forget the 360 and buy some 4" PVC pipe and a K&N filter and make one. $130 for the 360 or about $40 total for the homemade PVC version. I ran the PVC setup for over a year with no problems and a definite improvement over the stock airbox. But when the serious modding began it was time for the real thing - K&N FIPK.

I recommend the K&N......... PERIOD!

Yes, A few have cracked but that is total bull about them blowing you off telling you no warranty. I talked to quiet a few guys who had their original tubes crack. Lisa Sutton at K&N had them a new tube in less than two days.

They are using thicker tubes now, different plastic, and an added brace. The cracking should not be a problem anymore.
