My friend had a 2001 3.9 and we installed a Mopar cold air kit and the stock muffler and tailpipe off my R/T and there was a noticeable inprovement at the higher rpms.It also didn't have that ignorant rice sound to it.I would go with the following 1.cold air kit 2.46mm t-body from F&B 3.relocate the IAT sensor to cold air tube 4.180 t-stat 5.headers 6.magnaflow muffler installed to stock pipes. After that maybe some 1.7 rockers or/and a cam from KRC performance. You may want to check there site at KRCperformance.com

Hey man, i just like you have a 4X4 3.9L. Man these things are slow. I put dual flows on and felt an immediate response from say 2600 on up. It was quite noticeable. I would highly recommend skipping the headers - cause we don't have enough backpressure with them on. I instead would stick with the 46mm Throttle body from Fastman and cold air intake with that jet chip.

DO NOT GET THE TB SPACER. I learned the hard way. It does absolutely nothing except make an annoying whistle sound. Waste of $80.

With everything mentioned above you should definetly feel a major difference in performance but nothing compared to a V8. I think in all you would gain a good 25 HP and 30 Torque. This is a pretty good gain for only a few mods - but after these mods, not much will boost the HP as much as these did so dont keep spending money.
