I am going to be putting a 2"/4" drop kit (Belltech) on my Dakota. Can anyone tell me the loss of power i.e., TQ & HP loss from the stock suspension, Compared to an aftermarket. Basically the Percentages?? Right now I dyno at 350HP at the flywheel, and 280 @ the ground roughly. I am also doing the Hellwig rear sway bar. Any help would be great. Thx in advance

I don't think that lowering the suspension would do anything to the power of your truck. If it did anything it would make it a bit faster due to less wind resistance. What type of truck do you have (motor, trans, gears) and what have you done to it to kick out 350 at the fly wheel?

I have a 98 s/cab Dakota, Auto tranny, 3.91 Rearend. Mopar PCM, Hughes stage III TB, port and polished intake, cam, roller rockers, and hydraulic lifters, pushrods, K$N Gen II. 180 Stat, ASP Underdrive pulleys. Also Gibson Headers and Single 3" Cat-Back exhaust. I run 92 oct gas and I think that's it. I have kinda gotten lost with all the $$$ I've spent. I just should have supercharged it, and may still do that if my Raise happens soon....

why would you think that lowering a truck would hender the power output of your truck? I have a 4/6 drop on mine, and power was not effected. handeling however is greatly effected. The dakota is one of the best handling trucks made, and with a drop on it, it sticks in the corners verry well. The ride is also good. oh tire size makes a huge difference on ride and handling also.

Not hender the power, but will Feel a difference in the take off performance. It's hella fast, no doubt, but my concern is will it feel more like a sport care by pulling it down to the ground, because now it really feels like when I take off the suspension settles in and absorbs some of the torque. I used to have a 88 Z28 Camaro and it was totally different feel. Any feelings on that, and what kind of tires would you recommend? I have some 17" x 9"'s picked out, but no tires yet.

the R/T comes with 17x9's and they run a 255/55HR17 if you do a 2/4 drop you can still run that size or you might want to go with a 50 series with a V rating. the smaller widewall on the 17's will give the truck a more sporty feel during take off and expecially in the corners
