I was browsing kenne bell's site and they have a scrolling marquee stating that Ford is switching to a twin screw supercharger for 500hp in 2004.
Thats up with the SRT-10, right?

Yea but the srt/10 has the viper 6 speed, and it wont be very long you can slap a SC on the srt/10 something ford owners have a hard concept with.

The supercharger for the Viper from Roe Racing should bolt right onto the viper engine in the SRT-10... makes upwards of 700hp if I recall correctly... bye bye Lightning!

Was at Chicago Auto Show the other day. F?rd was touting their 500 H.P. 2005 F150 P.U. concept saying that it will be the fastest P.U. in the world at about 160 Mph. I asked him what they would do then, when DODGE would remove the speed limiter from the SRT/10 RAM (you should have heard the people laugh at him when he stumbled in his speech) HE had NO answer except DUH

500 HP from a small block Ford still isn't bad at all tho!
That's 100 more horses than the Corvette ZO6!
Imagine that engine in the Mustang Cobra. I'm sure it will be the next to get the 500 HP.
Too bad Chevy and Dodge all went FWD with all but one of their V8 cars!
Looks like Ford must still be doing good, because that's who you all compare everything to. You should just be happy some American company is making it real again. Not to mention at least Ford still produces a long line of Rear Wheel Drive cars! From the Crown Victoria, Lincoln's, all the way down to their Volvos, Jaguars and Aston Martins. It sounds like Ford has pretty good taste most of the time.

Don't get me wrong , I can't stand fords, but paysonbadboy is correct. The harder ford tries , the more they raise the bar. The "Horse Power" wars are on again. Its a good thing , Cause if Dodge had the the most HP , say 450 hp , and ford or chevy DID NOT top it , than Dodge would let things stand at 450 HP. And it IS an American company. Too bad its the little things on fords that go bad. And Chevy can't seem to figure out what kindda of style they want to use!! Every year somethng on the front of a chevy is different,and every year , the same little things go bad on fords.

"Horsepower wars" are great!
It's about time since the "gas mileage/emmisons" wars in the early '80's when everyone was sticking underpowered V6's in full sized cars. Especially the GM line, Monte Carlo, Cutlass, etc. What dogs those were EXCEPT the turbocharged Buick 3.8 V6. What a difference a turbo can make!

They can't be that bad. They have had pretty much the best selling car and truck for years. F150 and Mustang.
I loved my Mustang. But only a V8 Mustang is cool.
You can build a really fast 5.0 for 1/3 of what it costs on your Dodge!
i.e. Superchargers with everything you need including fuel managment go for $1700 from the top brands. You can get over 400HP from an old 5.0 (302) really cheap. And pass emmisions doing it.

Yeah, 440 CID will easily get 500 HP, but the Ford is only a 5.4L (330 CID). Sure it's blown, but unless they go to a 4 valve setup on that engine, it won't see more than 400 HP N/A. They are trying a new 3 valve arrangement for the 2004 5.4L Fords. Should net some respectable gains.

same thing, guess its Viper competition,BUT
viper has room for MUCH MUCH MUCH more hp
can a S/Ced 5.4 take a 200 shot of NO2 stock? Viper can
Viper can also be hooked up with a TT
in the end they will both come with 500 hp stock, BUT the viper has MUCH more room to gain more HP, as well as the SRT-10

Yeah. The Viper V10 has MUCH room left for power gains.
Cuz as I see it, approx 425 HP from a stock 8 Liter V10 is actually a DOG by compare of size!
It's MORE THAN 20% larger than a 5.4 Liter FORD.
And a few years ago, by the way, Ford made those limited edition COBRA R's. They were Naturally Asperated 5.4 Liter's pushing 400HP! It was all in porting and a bad ass intake plenum that was more like a velocity stack.
I just HAD to say it because a lot here think Ford has to use a supercharger to make horse power.
But as I see it, having BOOST is way cool and you wouldn't be bitching if your 5.9 came with one from the factory with a waranty! But then Chevy fans would be saying the shi!te about you, but again, Chevy hasn't been exactly any competition in years as far as trucks go!
