Subject: V8 throttle body swap

Message:
I'm thinking about switching my V6 Dakota over to a V8 throttle body. I was just wondering if a V8 TB from a junk yard would work or will I need to buy a modified one to fit my truck?

-Thanks-

Thanks for the response Dirkota. So one from a junk yard should work fine on my Dakota? About how much one would run?

Thanks

I've got one that came with a 360 that I bought. It's from a '99 R/T. I had already done the throttle body swap before I bought the motor, so it's just chillin in a box in my garage. I paid $110 w/ shipping for mine,so I'll take $90 shipped if that's cool. Shoot me an e-mail if you're interested. It's carolinakota@hotmail.com

what size? What's best for a 1999 V6? Cause 101 sounds good too.

Should be the first thing. My truck is running sweet! It is a new truck. Spins the tires up into 3rd gear now (when the roads a little damp). It just feels stronger. Definitely do this mod, it's well worth the little bit of scratch IMHO.

OK then, I have the v8 throttle body and v8 throttle cable for sale. Shall we say $115 for both ?? All that would be needed is a new TB gasket (cheap). If anybody is interested, shoot me an e-mail at: carolinakota@hotmail.com

Thanks to all you who have done the v6 to v8 throttle body swap. I found one out of a junk yard in Sumner, Wa. out of a 1999 Dodge Durango. I installed it with a new gasket from NAPA, reset the computer and fired it up. the new throttle body caused a high idle at first and finally settled down to about 650 rpm in park. I will have to raise the idle slightly, with the truck in drive it idles a little bit ruff. I have noticed an increase in output from idle all the way to redline. I will eventually pull thintake manifold and port match the intake to the throttle body. I forget to mention i put this on a 1997 dakota with a v6.

Good Boy you must know how to use the search :)

Don't worry about the idle it should get better in about 2-300 miles not only that but you can't change it, the pcm controls it

also leave it on and don't mess with it ant more
