This is going to be long:

Ok I had a dream last night that woke me up because it made me want to go find the parts at 3am and try it out. I want to get two of those stock boxes that hold your filter (4.7) Not the plastic (BS) airhat thing, but the part that....yeah that other thing. Anyway. I want to measure about 3 or 4 inches down from the top of the box (away from the end that the filter would be in) and cut the bottom off. So I would have two tops, with removeable lids. Now, the lids will still have the hose attachment sticking out of the top. Point one one direction, and the other in the oppisite, and glue the half boxes together. So you would be left with a box that has two hose attachments, one on top, one on bottom, pointing opposite directions. NOW, I would find some thin diamond plate and cut a strip that is long enough to wrap all the way around the box and wide enough to cover up the glued part. Probably touching both removeable lids. Next I would have to remove the airhat off of the TB and find a way to mount the new box on top. Will require me to make some metal strips so I can mount the new box using the bolts that the old airhat used. After I get all of that bolted down and affixed to the TB, get some abs pipe and run it from the top of the new box to the spot where that rubber piece used to be by the radiator. And finally, I would find a square funnel/intake. (www.ramairbox.com) and mount it to the front frame of my truck somehow? and connect the abs pipe to it. And It should be finished. ABS would probably be 4" and I would want the intake funnel to be square so it would be easier to mount to the frame. Drop a K&N in the top only and yer' set! Would this work as a home brew ram air box?

I'm crazy, yes I know... but tell me what you think, or if you have any questions or comments. Helpful tips?

It would work, just like my variation, and all the others being used. Except maybe you might be going to a little more trouble, and getting about the same net result. Go for it.

The idea would be to not make it that large, so you wouldn't have to lift the hood? If that airhat can fit there, why can't the custom box?
