It up and working in my 4.7L! Fits great. Took some modification of one of the brackets, but that's about it. You can sure as hell hear when that thing comes on, loud as hell.

I'd get you all more pictures, it's really clean, but it's -15 with windchill outside. So no.

Here is a page I set up if you all want to take a peek:

The only downfall is the damn thing runs when the engine is off untill it reaches the temperature that the fan turns off. That's kind of a pain in the ass. I walk away and I still hear this loud as roar for a minute or two.

Oh, and the power wire hooks to where the postitve connector goes in the fuse box. So it's hidden, connected securly, and out of the way of the enviorment.

The accessory wire hooks onto where there is a spare fuse -- which I am not actually sure if that works. The reason I don't think it works, is it still runs when the engine is off. I am not sure if that's a good thing yet. If my battery is in good condition, you would think the draw shouldn't drain my battery to much if it ran for no more than five minutes.

Then again, I don't think anyone cares about my fan :( hahaha.

I am by no means an electrical guru, but I'm sure there's a way that you can wire it to kill the power to it when you switch the ignition off. I'm just not familiar enough to know what that involves.....

That accessory wire probably should go to a power source that is only hot when the ignition is "ON." Mine is wired to the wiper circuit, but only because that was the most convenient. That way, the fan shuts off when you turn off the key.

Nice pics. Where did you get that loom tubing? I'm no electrical wiz either. Did a wiring diagram come with the fan? One of the positive connections should probably be a switched connection. Did you check to see if the accessory connection was switched?

No, no wiring diagram really. It comes with a diagram that tells what each lead on the fan's control box does. It just tells you to put the power wire to power, accessory wire to an accessory wire and the ground to a ground.

Where did you get that loom tubing?
Between my dad I, we have over a hundred feet in 1/2", 1/4" and 3/8" split loom tubing. It's best to pick it up in mass amounts. You can buy it at Radio Hack for abou five bucks per five feet, but that's a rip. The next best place would be like a NAPA. They have spools of it for an alright price.

I used about seven feet total in those pics.

I am not sure if it's a bad thing the fan is on when the vehicle is off. I havn't gotten to play with it much since the temperature dropped to negative last night and is still super cold. The fan hasn't even come on. I replaced the thermostat with a 180 degree and that seems to keep it pretty cool.

If I do need to wire it to something I'm wondering what I should wire it to. Am I to splice into another wire or is there a lead I can leech off of?

You know what, I had my Ohm metre out and tested all my wiring, but I didn't test that accessory connection. Damn, what was I thinking.

Is this fan replacing your stock electric fan, or are you using it in addition to your stock electric fan? Just curious, think I might get one too.

Stock is gone, it died a very violent and horrible death. With just a hack saw, a vice and vice grips, you got all you need to modify it to fit. I want to get a bunch of better pictures and a full tutorial, but only if people are interested and mine doesn't catastrphicly fail.

Anyone who has taken off their clutch fan, did you notice your engine coming to operating-temperatur any faster?

I installed a slightly larger radiator, 180 t-stat, removed the clutch fan, and new coolant, but my truck never heated up to warm air in only about two minutes. The damn thing is blowing very warm air by the time I get to the end of my block. This is in one digit weather now.

My guess leads me to the clutch fan since a 180 t-stat and HD radiator shouldn't help warm up time. Could it be the clutch fan kept the engine too cool in cold climates. It is sure as hell nice though, I don't even need to use the ice scraper.

Just an observation. Might be beneficial to people with cold winters to take it off.
