Subject: opinions on these mods

Message:
Been playing around for a while trying to figure out what are good mods and what does not cost the earth. I have a 2000 4x4 quad cab auto with the 5.9 and 3.55's, a second rate custom cat back system (came with truck), borg warner cap and rotor, 8mm jba power cables, autolite 3923 and a Robert shaw 180 T-stat. At first I was thinking supercharger then I drifted off into N/A land. Here is what I have come up with so far.

1)K&N fipk
2)Hypertech (want to be able to run 87 octane sometimes)
3)50mm TB (make ???? maybe F&B??),
4)Some sort of intake manifold clean up (keeping beer keg for low torque applications maybe a hughes setup)
5) Crower 1.7 roller rockers,
6)gibson headers and a Y-pipe(perhaps custom??) and maybe a free flowing cat.

Anyway my goal is to not loose much low down torque. I do a small amount of towing but mostly highway driving. Just want the truck to run good. Does anyone have any rough idea of what Hp and Tq numbers I might get with this setup?? Or should I just piss all of this off and save for a supercharger??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! I know some of you guys have good knowledge and experience with similar setups. Thanks.

Oh yeah forgot to mention, I also have modded the crank shaft sensor due to having a crappy flash thanks to the dealer.

I'm not too familiar with the 5.9, but I think the M1 will cost you some low end from what I've read. Most mods (aside from forced induction) will decrease low end and increase top end. Maybe a set of 3.92's would be a good idea.

Here is a list of my mods. I still have good low-end, and the mid to upper is really strong. I really like the Hypertech. I had the MP PCM, and the Hypertech is much better in my opinion. I have a few more plans on the naturally-aspirated side of things before I consider a supercharger. I would say the best felt mods I have done were the headers, Hypertech, and M1. The headers really improved the low-end substantially. I think is due alot in the fact that they are equal length and the design itself. They were expensive, but well worth it. Plus, they still look like new, after almost 2-1/2 years of use. If you would like to try something cheap, I recommend removing the clutch fan (if you have an electric fan), and switching to the spark plugs listed below. I tried 2 sets of the 3923's and two different Champion plugs before I decided on the NGK's. They were a noticeably better plug than the others. I know everyone says use the Autolites, but I disagreee. The truck is much smoother and runs better with the NGK's. I am very pleased with them, and was not really impressed (actually disappointed) with the Autolites. Hope this helps.

Mopar PCM
JBA's, not Gibsons, trust me.
Under & uperdrive pulleys.
Get the Spintech true dual exhaust w/X-pipe(30 horsepower on the dyno)
3.92 rearend

Don't do the blower until alittle later.
I would expect about 390 to 400 horses at the crank out of a 5.9.

If you can afford it, I would definently get the rearend first.Talk about some low-end power.

You may get that much hp out of the above mods, but I doubt it. I've got about 365-375 at the crank with my mods. I haven't finished the air box for my hood yet, but the few trial drives that I have made with it seemed really good. It felt quite a bitter stronger with it verses without. I am working on a way to quiet some of the "hiss" it makes when at low rpm, then I will install it for good. The sound at wot is awesome!!

Troy,
have you ever dynoed your truck??? I would be interested to see what you are putting out at the rear wheels.
I think that equal length headers are the way to go, but I was hoping not to spend to much on the headers.
Does anyone have any idea of what Hp & Tq I may rougly be getting out of the setup I listed above??? I will probably chage over to an M1 instead of modded beer keg. I was just a little worried about losing low end torque.

One thing I've been wondering is if you go with a 180 thermostat, do you need to make a mod to the PCM? the fans are set to engage relative to the stock thermostat. At least Kenne bell list this as one of the changes to the PCM when getting their Optimizer II mod. Has anyone seen a difference in temp with a stock pcm when not on the hiway?? I have a Robert shaw GT755-180, just haven't installed it yet.
