Here's my story...
97 4x4 5.2, The dealer put new tires on the truck as part of the deal, they freak'n put 300+ ft lbs of torque on the lugs, enough that I couldn't change a flat using the factory tire iron (even with me jumping up and down on top of it!!!)(happy that the flat didn't happen) I took it to a hobby shop so I could work on it, even their air gun couldn't remove the lug nuts. Next was Sears and their friendly service...They removed them alright, stripped 2 of the nuts (no big deal, expected it to happen). After they rotated and balanced this past Wed, I got a HUGE vibration from 45-60mph(feels like rear wheels), even worse on slow accelerations. Took it back on Fri, I lost a weight on the front left. That afternoon the vibration returned, not quite as severe, but still way more than I can stand for any length of time. Saturday I returned to Sears, they checked the rear, said I have a bent driver's side wheel. Replaced the wheel w/ spare, and it's still there (vibration).

That's where I am now...
Today I'm gonna change the spare over to the rear pass. side to see if he forgot what side. But, I think the problem is in the universals, at 50k they could be going bad...

Any suggestions? Sorry for the long post.

Try a different tire and wheel place. I have heard from friends that Sears has horrible mechanics!

I hate when places put on lugs with an impact. They don't need to be any tighter than what you can put them with a 4 way lug wrench by hand!!!

VERY VERY BAD NEWS!!!!!!
My baby will be in the shop for some time now. I tried the whole swapping wheel thing, but no luck, and to think tomorrow I was going to take a good look at this....
I was taking my better half off to college (her car is broke also) when I heard a loud POP...I thought nothing of it (maybe another car), another mile down the road was a double POP followed by grinding noise. I immediately pulled off the road to find that my transfer case broke off from the transmission--literally!!! About half way around where the bolts connect the two, it's broke, the transfer case has part of the transmission housing on it. The service dept is closed, so I don't know when it will be done, but I do know they'll have to replace the rear housing on the tranny (about 8-10" long).......

Bummer, I January, my transfer case let go and it cost 1335 big ones to get it rebuilt. Fortunately I was not so far in that I could not get out in 2 wheel drive.

You think the driveline was vibrating? Maybe they improperly lifted the truck and bent the driveshaft causing vibration which broke loose the t-case? Just a thought? Check for a rounded out U-joint?

Talked to the mechanic today.....so far it's $275. The transfer case and rear tranny housing are cracked. As long as the internals are ok on both, $275 + a little more will be it!!! If it's damaged....................
I get the final word tomorrow morning!

Good News is, I get my truck back Friday....
Bad News is, it'll cost me over $1,300.00....
AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH
The rear tranny housing replaced, repair 3 broken transfer case studs, servicing the front and rear axles (power flushing).
They say that it was caused by 'over torquing' he was asking if I was racing any 5.9's.....not yet is my answer HEHEHE! It's not like I go and race everyone on the road. I don't even think the 3500lb trailer I pulled for 1200 miles would've done it, so it must've been the previous owner.........darn hit!!!!!!
I get my toy back Friday, and then I'll be happy.
