I have a 2003 tiburon that would bury any dakota on this page. I have AEM cai, KORE exhaust and headers and an alpine supercharger. Just a reminder to think before you bash rice rockets as you hillbilly F@*** like to call them. I aslo have a 99 dakota with the 5.2l 5spd with an Airaid intake gibson headers and flowmaster exhaust that don't stand a chance against my tibby! FYI

A Tiburon does not qualify as a ricer. I mean, it barely qualifies as a car, so it has a long way to go before we can elevate it to ricer status. I don't give a good damn what you have under the hood. I don't care if it holds the land speed record. It's still one of the ugliest fu*king cars ever produced in the history of mankind. I drive a 93 dakota with a 5.2L V8. This past Saturday night a litte rice roket lined up with me and I held it to about half throttle and still whooped its Jap ass.

well to each his own. i bought my dak to tow my auto cross car, a '72 datsun 510, it's got 10 to 1 compression, a comp. cam, duel side draft weber dcom's, full race suspension kit. and every auto cross i've ever gone to no american car is competitive, just like every time i go to the drag stip the american rigs are always on top. they all have different plus's and minus's. i use to have a nissan hard body 4x4 and my dak is much better off road, and as far as trucks go my dak is as good as they come in my opinion, but i'll take a japanese car any day for road racing or any thing were you need good handling.so basically i'm just saying depending on what you plan on doing with your vehical a japanese car maybe better, or the other way around, so there both good in there own ways.

Ok, cryppie - I'm requesting mods/times. All I have to say is you better be talking about a motorcycle, cuz there is no way in hell that ANY four cylinder car will run those times natural aspirated (N/A = no turbo, no blower, no nitrous).

I need to make a typo correction to that last comment of mine. I actually meant to say high 12's, not 13's. Damn fingers type so fast I missed it.
Anyway, I was also going to ask how you resolved the crank walk and piston ring wear, as well as the fuel supply system of that Hyundai when you added the Alpine S/C to the engine. Also, what kind of FMU are you running? How did you resolve the motor mount issue that the heavily modified Hyundai's have? And what did you do to the tranny, since everyone knows the stock one can't even hold up to one or maybe two runs with the S/C install? I've got about 100 more questions for you, so let me know when you answer the ones here on this board. Then go to the Hyundai and Tiburon performance boards and tell them how you resolved all these issues, while they in all their years of trying, haven't.

I know alex, but this time I happened to read something from a troll on a subject that I know a lot about. I have great experience rebuilding Hyundai engines (because they really suck a$$, but are a cheap buildup/rebuild). Lots of the fellas I was friends with when in the Navy had them in CA b/c they did a lot of street racing, and they were the cheapest to modify and repair (some were down right fast too, even by my standards). If anyone wants to talk shop on aircooled VW engines, then I'm your man there as well. I've got the ultimate '70 Super Bug. Totally streetable (gets 23 MPG on the highway) and has 253 RWHP. And yes, it's still an aircooled engine. It cost me about $4000 to build the engine, though (which is tough to do on that VW engine). Anyway...back to reality. redryder, go jump off a very tall cliff.

What the hell is wrong with all these rice lovers? They come along thinking that they are gods gift to automobiles, when really their fart piped rice racers can't even keep up with my dakota that has 9" lift and 35" superswampers. There is nothing better than smoking a little civic with a 5 foot wing on the back in a huge dakota that they think is all show and no go.
If they only knew how many people laughed at their cars because of the 500 stickers, 10" exhaust tip and huge rims, they would probably all own a dakota.

Also, I doubt you could get your R1 to run a 11.15 at a dragstrip. Try it and see! Launching and keeping traction on the strip is a totally different experience than a rolling race on the street.

OK CRYPPIE because your an idiot i thought i would invite you to a race of many kinds first the dak is a 99 r/t 5.9 that will smoke your old school and ugly dak. and second and third on the rocket side i have a 1000cc honda rc51 that will run high 10s on the strip and of course you know what the rc51 is, the best road racing bike honda has ever made so on the track i would take your wimpy 600 that you so believe is awesome and smoke it. my 2 cents worth not .02 cents worth as many people i see write go to english class.
