TURBOLATOR® POWER EXHAUST TIPS
High-quality stainless steel (T304 outer wall, T409 inner sleeve) won't rust
Lifetime money-back guarantee by manufacturer on materials and internal mechanisms
Tips improve fuel economy up to 8.3% for more power and better performance!
Patented self-adjusting internal control valve responds to RPM load and temperature to equalize pressure and regulate exhaust flow. During high exhaust flow, the internal valve opens to let engine gasses escape freely. At lower RPM, the internal valve closes to regulate exhaust flow and improve engine performance. The result is increased horsepower and torque, improved fuel economy and less harmful emissions—without having to modify original engine specifications. Must be welded to exhaust pipe. Verified/CARB #D-22.
Test proven to improve gas mileage and reduce emissions! Independent tests by 2 laboratories certified by the Federal EPA show that the Turbolator® improves fuel economy up to 8.3%, reduces hydrocarbons by 14% and reduces carbon monoxide by 12%.

In principle, it is sound to have some kind of valve that increases backpressure at low rpms with relatively unrestricted exhausts. But this is first time I hear that this is done by some exhaust tips...

They sell these stupid things in JC Whitney. It has a butterfly and looks kinda like a big 1 bbl TB. In the low end it stay closed some to give back pressure and low end torque. As the RPM's come up it opens more until wide open for more top end HP. In theory it sounds good but I don't know anyone that actually bought one so I don't know if they work. I'm thinking it probably doesn't.

Um, I don't see any wires in that pic.... so how does it know what RPM you're running? Why not just put a flap with a hinge like you see on the big rigs?

those flaps on the Kenworths are there just to keep water from falling into the 8" exhaust pipes when it is raining and the engine is not running...

My wifes maxima has a similar setup but it's in the muffler I think.. It comes like that from the factory. They claim it to be effective but I don't know if it is, just thought I'd let ya know.

This isnt the same thing thats in a Maxima. I used to have one. They have two different intake runners, long and short. At low RPM's the intake charge is run through the short runner for better low end torque, and as RPM's increase the long runner opens for higher RPM horse power. So, same but different.

Yes they have the intake runner but apparently they have a set up in the muffler. It has a flap in it that opens up depending on the trottle. Anyway it's sound like another bunch of Bullsh1t that someones trying to pawn off on unsuspecting people.

Sounds liek the exhausts on the 3000GT/Stealth turbo cars. the flappers on 18 wheelers are to keep the rain out and small kids and animals from falling in the sewer size exhaust pipe :-)
The theory is right. since there ar eno wires the exhaust pressure is what opens the flapper valve so Im assuming with time its gonna do what every exhaust does. RUST
