If I use the cat box is there any danger in running open headers,(other than the cops and neighbors). I have heard that cold air could possible get sucked up the header and crack heads.

sure, you can run opern headers all you want, but if you dont have the modifications to go along with them being open, you will lose alot of low end torque. been there done that. seen it happen on many a truck and street car. the only way to make in gain in running open headers is to raise the compression, increase the amount of airflow into the motor, and the fuel that mixes with it. other than that, no gain but the loud factor will still be into play. any more ??? i can help you out.

I am not intending to run them open forever, its more the I want to play factor. I just got them and dont want to weight for my supplies to come before I do the install and true duels Fabrication. I am a fabricator by trade, I simply dont have tons of auto experience. Years ago in my youth I ran Hooker Super Comp Headers open for 4 months on another vehical and had no problem other than not hearing myself think and consantly having to tighten everything before I was told about possibly causing a crack. I can handle the loss in power for a week or so. What other concerns might I consider on a street vehical.

Don't act like an idiot and you won't have any problems with cops - I ran my Ram around with open headers for about a month and never got a 2nd look from the cops - a few times I was sitting next to them at traffic lights and cruising in traffic with them.

Most of them around here are more concerned with these kids in Hondas and other POS compacts trying to run 100mph on crowded streets than busting you're balls because you have loud exhaust.
