Anyone try this? On their website you can buy a used tb that has been ported and polished for a decent price. Just wanted to know if it was a good product

Don't know what Hughes is charging for their reworked TB, but I would go with Fastman for the $200 they charge. I have the true 68mm TB on my 02 Dak and its awesome, arrives to you like a bran new TB.

the reason I mentioned hughes is because they offer both a used modified tb for $165 and $125 credit for your core, whereas fastman wants $200 and your core with no credit

If I'm not mistaken, then all TB's from 2001 to present are 68mm. Atleast mine is. Why buy a ported 65mm TB when it only gives you the same size as a new stock TB. To get a real performance gain, then one would have to use a 70 or 72mm unit. Sure the ported 65mm TB looks nice and has 68mm opening, but that's really about it. Just my 2 cents...might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it's right.

If Hughes does the same work as Fastman, that's a great deal. You would have to see the difference in TB mouth size between the stock 68mm and the Fastman 68mm side by side to understand the huge difference(approx 1/4" larger inlet in circumference) and much much thinner blade/arm. I wish I took a pic of them side by side but I didn't have my camera on me at the time. I will be ordering another for the wives Dak, only it will be a 70mm since I may be adding NOS or SC in the near future and understand the larger TB should be added.

2THEXTRM-

Sorry about the misunderstanding. I didn't realize that it was that big of a difference. I guess that I assume too much sometimes. I would really like to get a 70 anyway just because I want a little more top end improvement. I'd like to hear more about your 68. Shoot me an e-mail. chevyguru@yahoo.com
Thanks!

Fastman makes a great product. I pretty much did the "true 68" porting to my stock TB, and it is a good improvement over the stock setup. Theirs is a better buildup over mine though. And I didn't touch the blade.
